I don't know what's average or typical. I do know that I have a good job I love, but also have LOTS of trouble socially at work, and tend not to keep jobs very long. I've mostly been self-employed, but also successfully. I have a husband and 2 kids, and a (very) small but wonderful social circle who...

I had my ADOS assessment today (2 hrs) and my husband did the ADI-R (3 hrs) - a long time working up to this, and finally went private because I couldn't face the wait to go through NHS! Absolutely exhausting, and a little raw I think, but so worth it. Still have to wait 2 weeks for the final report...

I call that leading someone on. There should be nothing to "figure out" when the statement is so plainly said like that. If one's words are misinterpreted, then one's manner of communicating is subpar. lol. That's like saying between someone who's not deaf talking with someone who's deaf that it's ...

I do hope they won't go off the deep end, and I guess I'm a bit over-sensitive about it right now anyway ... it was something of a revelation to realise *I* had the difference regarding planning issues, rather than my previously held belief that I was just right about how thing should be organised!!...

I have a great job that I love (talking endlessly to genuinely interested audiences about my special interest & getting paid for it!), excellent flexibility in how / when I work, senior management position and all that. Great job. I also have a physical impairment, that they're not too good at a...

(My junior-high principal tried to tell me that I was "eccentric", but as I explained to him, in order to be "eccentric", you have to be rich enough that people will ignore the odd things you do and say. Not being rich, I was "weird".) That sounds almost exactly right. (You could also be "eccentric...

You mean they don't? I don't believe you.

Your result for The Broad Autism Phenotype Test ... Autistic/BAP You scored 123 aloof, 123 rigid and 103 pragmatic You scored above the cutoff on all three scales. Clearly, you are either autistic or on the broader autistic phenotype. You probably are not very social, and when you do interact with o...

I do not understand. My posts are not poetry. How are they poetic? Also, Ludwig Wittgenstein was a philosopher. LOL - ursaminor, you're a poet and you don't know it, that is beautiful, as is Wittgenstein. I did my PhD research on Wittgenstein's approach to understanding understanding, but odd...

I'm in the middle of assessment, so on a waiting list to be dx'd, so may be AS, maybe not. I always thought I was really good at reading people, but as has been said here, it turns out I'm not. I did one of the Baron-Cohen eye test thingies. It really upset me. How the hell can anyone tell the diffe...

Just joined there now after stalking for a bit, and what do I find? A warm friendly welcome from not just one, but two fellow bendy people! Hurrah :-) So totally in the right place. *sigh* I, too, am hypermobile, but in a 'Ow' way, which used to be called HMS, but for some reason has a new, trendy n...
