It seems counterproductive to me, and even counterintuitive. I'm concerned that this will generate pity instead of empathy...and the last thing I think our community needs is more pity. Someone has suggested an alternative to this, called Autistics Speaking Day. More info about it here: http://bit.l...

There may be one or two out there, but I'm a published poet and I'm not aware of any.

Let me get on this. I think it would be a great publication to launch. I'll get with some connections and get something going! :D

Actually, that I think would be a great idea.

Then I wonder if we build up these walls/find ourselves stuck inside ourselves because we find the outside world overwhelming in varying degrees. Maybe for some of us, we do this unconsciously because we find it a good way to cope, at least for the moment. I'm not passing a value judgment...this is ...

I'm wondering if there are any literary-style journals out there that specifically accept poems, short stories, artwork, etc. from people on the spectrum, whether the subject matter is about ASDs or not. I've found Breath and Shadow, which is a magazine out of Maine and Autism Netverse out of Johns ...

but when I have conversations about a certain topic, the thing I want to say about it are stored as bulletpoints in my head, and I can get really frustrated if I havn't mentioned all these points before the conversation moves on. I find myself trying to get it back on the original topic to finish m...

What you've described totally makes sense to me. In my case, it was a metaphorical glass wall that I'd constructed, due to many reasons...some of them sensory issues, sometimes because my nerves felt like they were right up on the surface of my skin which (which would make me feel like a stripped-op...

Male or female, people are people. Eventually, you find those with whom you can make a connection. And when it boils down to it, you're absolutely right. Maybe people tend to complicate things by worrying about how our genders affect each of our relationships. Understanding and honest are always th...

Nick_Raven, it was definetly more of a problem when i was younger. Probably because I was gullible and the attention felt good in comparison to the mean things females would do. As I grew up, I realized the attention was not positive, and it made me cringe. Same here. This totally resonates with me...

Ack! I find the same sorts of things...I study both men and women, but it's the men who notice more. I guess sometimes I creep the women out. I've had people come up to me and ask if I have a staring problem. And I've accidentally attracted men that I wasn't necessarily interested in. I mostly did t...

I have an advanced degree and experience with customer service/tech support/other skills, but I'm looking for someone who m...

For me, it is a matter of brain wiring. Mine happens to be different than those who are NT. And I'm okay with that. I've lived with being an Aspie for 33 years, and I see no need to change now. Personally, I wouldn't take a cure. Yes, there are a lot of difficulties with having Asperger's, but some ...

A good percentage of my stuff is on my blog, but I thought I'd share something from there on here as well as part of this thread. My poems tend to be pretty long, but I picked a shorter piece called "Backwards". Feel free to comment. :) --------------------------------------------------------------...

Let the bullies be in jail with adult men and see how they feel. :x Well, these are girls. They'd be in the women's prison if you go that route....somebody's [], if you get my drift. And what kills me is that these girls are acting without any sort of sense of culpability. It's as if they *know* no...

Okay, I'll bite. 1) I will definitely agree with Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban. Both have some fine talents and capabilities as well as overall strong voices. 2) Going over to the pop/rock idiom: I would have to say that the three who stand out to me are Jim Morrison, Michael Stipe, Damien Kulrash ...
