I read the whole thing and got to the end where THEIR misdeeds were revealed! The BEST and ONLY advice I can give the OP is to tell those hypocritical jack@$$<$ to STFU! And THEN proceed to question THEIR behavior! Do I tell you how FAST to drive? Do I tell YOU how WRONG it is to park in a HANDICAPP...

What the OP experienced was MILD compared to what I had happen to me not too long ago! This woman went on a low-key tirade - never actually calling me out by NAME, but still going on about character defects she ascribed to someone who just needs to get honest...who needs to learn to SMILE...be a HUM...

I saw this story on Yahoo! a few minutes ago! There WAS no such diagnosis when I was a kid! I did okay when I was in Pre-K and Kindergarten - I had friends at school and knew some kids in my neighborhood! The problem came when it was time for recess! When people talk about social awkwardness - to ME...

I love maps SO much, I got a car with a navigation system! I run it MOST of the time and in the horizontal mode so that it's always oriented in the direction I'm driving! It reminds me of the time in the mid-1970s I was in the 3rd grade and told my teacher that they should make cars with a screen wh...

I think that this is a WONDERFUL obsession! And if you think YOUR obsession is weird, TAKE a gander at THIS: I am obsessed with the Out Islands of the Bahamas - specifically the Berry Islands. I've been obsessed with them since I was an early teen many-a-year ago. I've spent time poring over maps an...

I have met several other individuals with Asperger's. It's rather hard to lump them all into one group. Those with Asperger's often have different interests and agendas, and are just inherently different people. They don't make automatic friends. That being said, those with Aspergers do have an eas...

There was this one kid I went to school with...he was fairly mute; had extreme trouble with things like irony and humor; tried to socialize but never really fit anywhere, and he stimmed with his eyes (blinking). He graduated high school and went to college, but had a very tough time of it. He gradua...

WOW, questor... THAT was POWERFUL STUFF!! !! I became aware of my solitary nature around the age of 5, but spent so much of my life trying to fit into a mould! I did have quite a time in high school, but once I reached my early twenties, decided that I liked my solitary nature to the point where I d...

Now that I think of it... Before I discovered AS (Asperger's Syndrome or Autism Spectrum, if you will), I actually did some research on personality disorders. I thought Social Anxiety and then things like Avoidant Personality Disorder were possibilities. Did lots of reading about them and then happe...

I'm African-American/Black. I may or may NOT have AS/ASD. I relate MORE to AS/ASD and have realized that there was something different about me from others since before I moved to the suburbs - which was about the age of 5. As a kid I was often mistreated by other Blacks for "talking white" and othe...

It's not so much the public transportation I mind; it's the people ON the public transit: -The CRACKPOTS -The STINKPOTS -The CRACKHEADS -The MOTORMOUTHS -The PERVERTS I mean, it's NOT so BAD if you can get to yourSELF and not have to deal with OTHERS! When I have to take the light rail, I'd rather S...

Fantastic idea!! If you're open to suggestions, may I suggest having the initial event be a bit shorter than a week - maybe a weekend event (Friday night - Sunday)? The reason being that I can imagine many of us on the spectrum may not feel comfortable being away from home for an entire week - espe...
