Thanks. I'm trying not to worry too much about it, but it apparently was a big issues last year in preschool, and I just don't want it to be a problem again this year. I was always under the impression, like you, that this was fairly typical of kids his age, but his teacher last year made a big deal... |

My son was diagnosed a few months ago with mild Asperger's. We had several behavior problems in preschool, such as aggressive behaviors and inappropriate talk which is actually what lead to testing. Kindergarten so far has been wonderful until today! His teacher informed me he showed a little girl h... |

I think spanking works for some children but definitely not for all. I have spanked my son before if other methods (rewards, taking away privileges, etc) have not been effective for a certain behavior. I never do it when I am angry, and I make sure I sit down with him after he is calm and talk about... |

Hi. We recently got the report from the testing center. It stated my son had a quotient score of 87 on the GADS which indicates "high/probable probability of Asperger's". Can someone please explain what this means? The spec ed director said she didn't really understand the report. I am talking to he... |

My son was recently diagnosed with Aspergers. His teachers and I have noticed that he has has really good days and then other days where he just doesn't seem to be there. Like nothing we say or do sinks in. Is this typical of kids with Aspergers? I can usually tell within the first 15 minutes of his... |

I don't know how much help this will be, but here are somethings I have tried with my son that seem to work (he is 4 also): Reward chart - he had major problems with naptime at preschool. We started a chart where he got a sticker for every day he had a good naptime. After so many stickers he got a r... |

Hi. My son was just diagnosed with mild Asperger's. He is 4 (5 this summer), and his teacher has commented several times on the fact that he does not hold his pencil properly. His handwriting isn't that bad, and he seems to have good control when drawing and writing. The teacher said isn't a big dea... |

My son is 4 and just diagnosed with mild Asperger's. We have been having a lot of problems with him at his preschool on and off all year (actually posted about it and got lots of great advice!). His father and I have been divorced almost a year now. He used to spend 3 1/2 days a week with both of us... |

Thank you all so much for the advice. We did the assessment and, while we won't have the official report for a few weeks, the assessor said she felt he did indeed have Asperger's although it leans towards the mild side. He had a much better week last week so we are going to try to make it the rest o... |

Hi. Right now he is in a public preschool that is part of the school district I work in (the building is PreK-12 grade). I haven't gotten an IEP yet although I am working on it. According to his preschool teacher, I need to have a diagnosis first. I vaguely remember discussing this in my education c... |

I posted this in the school forum, but thought I would try this one also. When my son started preschool at age 3, we began to hear about major behavior problems. He would be aggressive with other children and could not stay quiet during nap time. He eventually got kicked out of the first preschool f... |

He eventually got kicked out of the first preschool for choking. His teacher says she didn't think he meant to hurt anyone and ... |
