We are not "the next step" in human evolution, we possess a specific deficiency which actually hinders reproductive activity, that is not a trait which would be selected for. So why are there so many homosexuals? -- Okay that's a cheapshot. Both my parents have some degree of AS, not what you would...

I've been here for less than a week and looking around the forum it seems like many people are self diagnosed. They hear about aspergers and think they have it because they are kind of shy and have a hobby they are obsessed with. They take the online test and tell themselves that all their inabilit...

God please let us all've normal kids and into better lives by choosing better genes and letting AS genes die . That would mean the end of genius and original science and mathematics. I'm not diagnosed but I do show a lot of autistic traits. Both my parents have few friends and no close ones. Both have above average I.Q.'s and socialize through facts and information rather than small talk. Many other people in my family are similar. Most accept that people with common personaliti...

Probably more likely Narcissistic personality disorder.

-Bill, otherwise known as Kraichgauer

He had a hand tremor very characteristic of parkinsons which can cause a variety of psychological problems, he also apparently took a lot of amphetamines.

Yes, I have to admit it sounds rather familiar, however, I don't actually "feel" that I'm abnormal in any way. I'm not particularly taken with the paranormal either- I like science and coherence. Your choice of words and ability to describe your feelings also worries me. How so? I don't see why it ...

I have what people always say are delusions (I have been diagnosed as having schizoaffective) but like you they don't really affect my behavior. I am not going around in tinfoil or anything like that to prevent people from reading my mind. I can't do anything about my psychic powers and the power o...

I'm a Paramedic by trade; trust me especially if you have health problems. Talk to the staff and see if you like them, but more importantly make sure they are professional and not dead heads.

Well I can tell you I could easily be diagnosed as I'm rather familiar with shrinks and the methods they employ. Do I have it? maybe, maybe not. I meet most of the criteria some of time, but I do have the ability to be fairly socially well-adjusted if I put my mind to it. Looking back at childhood I...

You definitely have paranoias and your therapist is probably worried you are in the early stages or at a high risk of developing schizophrenia. Its good that you are aware that your ideations are unfounded and irrational, but they are still worrisome due to there pervasiveness. I am curious how old ...

"Psychosis" is a very broad term and no longer used in psychopathology. It is still referenced in theoretical psychology because many of the theories we still learn were written decades ago.

My family is Ashkenazi but I'm adopted, so I guess that doesn't count. That would depend. Did your parents adopt using a Jewish adoption agency? Typically a Jewish child that needs to be adopted will go to a Jewish family. Do you know anything of the circumstances of your birth and adoption? For a ...

I wouldn't believe it unless somebody actually showed me the stats. They're bound to have higher rates of some things because they've got a smaller, more isolated gene pool; but I've never heard of any particular connection with autism. I doubt there are any studies on Aspergers or HFA. There have ...
