Hi everyone, I apologize, but this is long. I joined this forum a few years ago when my son was diagnosed to gain some autistic perspectives on navigating life. I'm NT, and my husband and I believe that he is autistic, but he is undiagnosed. Since the birth of our 15-month-old daughter, things have ... |

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I really like the idea of talking with him about why I think it's important to do the classes and have different interests. Because his expressive communication is pretty basic and he doesn't share a lot of sophisticated thoughts with us, I think sometime... |

Just a warning- this will be long, so feel free to skip it. Basically I’m just looking for some input from adults on the spectrum on how much they wish their parents had pushed them/left them alone as far as interacting with others and diversifying interests. I’m not sure if I’m on the right track w... |

My son is on the spectrum, and both my husband and I have a genetic predisposition, I think. As a child, I would often lie to my friends on the phone when they asked me to come over and play. I liked being by myself most of the time, although I did get lonely. I also faked sick A LOT to get out of s... |

I'm new here, and I don't know if my answer will be helpful, but here goes. We've recently found out that my 4-year-old son is on the spectrum, and the more research we do, the more apparent it becomes that my husband has mild Asperger's. He got his pilot's license, even though he has social difficu... |

Hi there, My name is Amy, and I have recently found out that my 4-year-old son is hyperlexic and on the spectrum. We knew that he was pretty extraordinary from a very young age, but we only recently suspected autism when he didn't seem to be "outgrowing" his difficulties with things like transitions... |
