Yes, my memories are very detailed and feel very 'fresh'.

I think some people find me quite weird, but they don't say this to me, so I can't be sure, it's just a feeling. I've often been described as 'sweet', not sure why everybody always says that. Sweet as in very friendly, English is not my first language, not sure if it's the right word. And then there...

This is why I rarely tell anyone about my asperger. People always know the 'boy' aspie, but not the girl version. I do think there are some big differences. No wonder I was diagnosed in my 20's even though my parents already took me to doctors when I was barely 2 years old! I too doubt my 'aspergern...

I think you should get a second opinion too, I don't trust this doctor who diagnosed 'DD'. How is she now by the way? I also make eye contact. Though I look away whenever I get the 'chance' and my eyes actually move around a lot to look at objects, or the gesturing hands or the mouth of the person w...

I usually wear earrings when going out of the house. Sometimes I try to wear bracelets but it feels weird and because my wrists are thin they move up and down the whole time. I had periods of wearing a ring around the 4th finger. When I stopped wearing it, I was still 'looking' for it the whole time...

I'm glad to see this post. When I read about aspies and special interests it seemed suggested that aspies only have ONE special interests (by several authors of autism books). I was beginning to think I'm once again a freak among the ASD population as I've always had several interests at the same ti...

Hi Spazzer, I think it's a very good idea to talk to your teacher. I'm glad you're trying to contact her and I'm curious to what she'll say. Regardless of what she'll say, don't be afraid to ask a second opinion from someone else who knows about ASD. I know there are still many professionals with a ...

My memories are very detailed. I can remember where people and things were standing and what they said. Even if it was years ago. I have memories from when I was 2 years old, and they can be quite complex too. Often I remember the date too, I have a thing for knowing things in a chronological order.

Hi, the way you describe your son sounds like how I was as a child. My parents said that even at a few months old I would tense my body and make certain movements with my arms and legs. Then when I could walk around I would sometimes throw my arms into the air and clench and stretch my hands. I also...

Yes, he is a good author :) Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Happy and sociable Aspie sounds like oxymoron to me. Ok, Aspie can be happy, but happy and sociable? Ochhhh well, maybe I'm too autistic. "Happy and sociable aspie" - In the title of the thread I was referring to how other pe...

This is interesting, because since I am diagnosed with Asperger I really doubt my skills to understand other people and feel what they feel. Like someone else said, isn't one of the criteria for asp that we're not good at reading other people's emotions? I don't know how it works either because I am...

I also recognise this. When someone touches me lightly I feel like they must want something from me and that annoys me. The feeling itself is unpleasant too. I keep thinking what do people want from me, if someone softly grabs my arm for example. At least I know what people want if they hug me (thou...

Thank you all for your replies and sharing your experiences. I understand now I can be Asperger and still be sociable (with certain limits) and appear normal on the outside. The difference between male en female aspies is very interesting. I know statistics say only 1 in every 4 diagnosed persons is...
