I'm like that to, even when sitting in a train, bus or car (provided I'm not the driver) I look out the window trying to register everything that passes/ I pass bye (relativity). I also usually see patterns in seemingly random arrangements and get a tad annoyed when things are placed crooked. When r... |

Putting the language question aside, the best way of learning programming is by examples as was stated before. Even if the material itself is as dry as a desert, a decent instructor will be able to map the how and why of different classes and functions to real life examples. If you can switch instru... |

It has happened to me, and being asked for my parents also happens from time to time. My voice has a higher pitch which gets exaggerated on the phone. I will get hoarse quite soon if I have to talk much or in a stressed situation. These things might be ASD related but in my case it is more likely to... |

One thing we do know, he is not crazy; his mother had him tested :P Besides that, he is obviously somewhere on the spectrum. He was less so in the beginning when he seemed somewhat more socially able. My sister repeatedly stated that I'm exactly like him, except that I know when to keep my mouth shu... |

I think the biggest misconception about photographic (or eidetic) memory is that most people, even those with such memory capability, believe one with photographic memory remembers everything they saw, even if only for a second, and can recall the memory instantly. A photographic memory seems to me ... |

I can focus better on my work with music on. But in the car it's opposite, when I'm searching for the way I'll usually turn the music way down. Then again, I've got a noisy car (no sound proofing) which in itself drowns out much of the distracting low volume sounds. |

I believe you see relationships as functional constructs, i.e. the company you choose to keep has a function to you, like being an intellectual outlet as you say. You seem to be more attached to the function they fulfill as to the individuals themselves. As a result, like the case is with purely fun... |

All small talk is annoying to me, always has been. My standard reply to "How are you?" is "Fine" or "Can't complain". Note the lack of "thank you" or a return question? It leaves the conversation dead in the water, a result of my social off-ness that is unintentional but not unwanted most of the tim... |

I have a part-time (2 days a week) job, and the rest of the week I'm self-employed. Both jobs are webdesign and programming. Some people I work with know I'm autistic, I don't keep it a secret, but I don't disclose randomly. |

I do have that sometimes, it's like I'm just a bit out of focus. I see everything, but not the details. Because I recognize things as being a total of a number of details it just won't register. I guess this has to do with associative thinking. For example, I see an object with the front piece desig... |

Just to react to the linked article; this guy Harold L Doherty shoots himself in the foot by insinuating that because HFA's like Alex are successful they can't possibly be autistic. He has an autistic son, with developmental delays, and to him autism is that severity of disability. Instead of ventin... |
