I see a conundrum here. I'm seeing a lot of Aspies here who seem to be extremely convinced that self-diagnosed Aspies aren't really Aspies, and to be quite honest it puzzles me. One of AS's strongest traits is distrust of NT's, and "the NT world. It's not hard to see that here and on other forums a... |

There is good and bad in every industry, the same way there are good and bad people in the world. If this is something you want to do, then by all means you should pursue it. It is a very, very, VERY competitive field. My advice would be to get your degree in math and/or economics. If your school ha... |

Some agencies are better than others, so sign up with a few and see what assignments come your way. Don't be discouraged if you don't get an assignment right away, and be sure to call them each day so you move to the top of the list. Temping is a great way to get a little experience, earn a little m... |

Sometimes when interviewers ask you if you have questions, they are trying to get a better sense of you as a person and to see what you are focused on. And also, they are human and might have forgotten something. Some good questions are: how many people are in the dept/group; what type of training w... |

If you are comfortable with your autism/asperger's and accept yourself and your identity, then that is all that should matter. You don't need a certificate in order to practice autism. If you told someone you were born with a hole in your heart and they demanded to see the diagnosis, what would you ... |

Homeless people on the street have told me to smile.
I think people, animals that they are, have certain animal instincts and senses that are not logical, and they can unconsciously pick us out and know that we are not like them. |

That thought crossed my mind as well. A beautiful film that should have had more acclaim. |

When I was six years old and started school for the first time, they tagged me almost immediately as autistic. I "failed" the testing, however, because I was too intelligent. Back in the '70's, there was no Asperger's diagnosis. Even if you displayed all the impairments of classic autism, as long as... |

Not a movie but a TV show in the US called "Monk." He's obsessive, drives everyone crazy with his quirks and compulsions, uses his unusual perceptions to solve mysteries. I think he's the first TV character on the spectrum. |

I have the same problem, have had it all my life although now I self-medicate and have more regular sleep patterns. You have to do what you can to get some rest. I got my license a few years after everyone else did, after taking the road test 3x. I never wanted to drive, but my parents wanted me to be independent. I couldn't explain to anyone properly that I didn't "see" the road correctly and didn't really understand it myself. I got into a head on collisio... |
