Nope. Even if by chance I were to gain some friends or find people who appreciate my company and would like me to be more engaged with them, the probability is high that I will do one of two things: find an excuse not to socialize and live with being perceived as a lone wolf, or just completely cut ...

Forum: Social Skills and Making Friends   Topic: Are most aspies not able to drive?

Though I don't qualify as an Aspie (HFA per standard criteria) I found driving to be rather intuitive, as if the skill was already there. It took no more than 3 or 4 practice runs before I was comfortable enough to take control of the wheel. After that I pretty much taught myself the rest by reading...

Lots and lots of Legos. I dunno but there's something about autistic people and legos, it was like a dream come true for me. Same with Hot Wheels toy cars. Needless to say I've outgrown all of that stuff, but if there was one way to get my creative juices flowing as a wee boy, Legos would be my firs...

Having nobody to talk to or to enjoy life with never seemed to get the best of me. I knew that being socially inept without making progress would get me nowhere besides the living room couch, and I feel like I'm doing it out of survival rather than for the sake of being amongst the company of others...

Oh ya, plenty of them though the last one wasn't nearly as bad. Lucky me I was the odd one out socially and no one ever messed with me in high school, but being in an unstructured environment like that wreaked havoc on my grades and my attitude. If you don't mind sharing (since I stay in the DFW are...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: are you sensitive to the temperature

I can be indoors, outdoors, anywhere and take a rough estimate of the temperature, no instruments provided. I've had many people get WTF looks on their faces when they find out it's off by only a few degrees.

About 3 hours ago I was more likely, and the more this trend continues the closer I get to becoming a statistic. I don't think it's due to AS alone more than it is full blown depression, but it comes with the challenges of having that label on your forehead so there you go.

Wanting to speed through life and have everything given to me at once wreaks havoc on my mental stability. One step at a time is the better advice here :)

Every single person that I know from school and have been acquainted with seems to have completely forgotten that I exist (or has been scared off by me), including my best (only) friend that I still feel that I have IRL. Yep, that was me minus the best friend, never bothered with making them anyway...

Only to find out I was the piece of the puzzle that didn't quite complete it, so yes. Many times really, but in the end it's the same outcome.

Whatever is on me at the time, more or less depending on the air temperature. Any change that falls out of my pockets and sticks to my back, yeah I wear that as well.

The more upset and angry, I start to fumble until I just give up. In a better mood my thinking is clearer but in a bad mood everything becomes frustrating, this is probably why I struggled with advanced subjects back in high school. I have trouble with worded questions more than anything else, most ...

I think all the stress and being depressed from being in a mainstream public school around thousands of kids may have screwed with my ability to keep up the good grades. It's funny really, I was the top student in my elementary classes, got all the awards...then going on to middle and high school my...
