Thank you all for the great replies. I've decided that he needs a lot more practice and if he can't get it together, then he doesn't need to drive, no matter how much he hates it. You are so right that he COULD kill someone and I'm not sure he realizes that. I'll have to talk to him about that as we... |

The classes he took with an instructor were a complete waste of time and money. They spent most of the class time teaching the kids how to get out of tickets and they spent most of the driving time stopping for snacks for the instructors. I agree that the change of cars was probably what threw him o... |

My son is 17 1/2. He took driver's ed last summer. He really didn't pass, but the instructor, for some reason, changed his score to give him the points he was lacking, and they passed him anyway. He's been practicing since then, not a lot during the school year, but quite a bit this summer. He isn't... |

What pissed me off about the show was towards the end. The Mom said of the baby that she didn't think he had autism because he's, "such a good boy."! !! ! WTF?!? Can people with autism not be "good"??? And is she implying that her other two boys are "bad"?!? |

I, too, am an AS Mom. My oldest is 13, he also has AS, diagnosed when he was 6. My youngest is almost 9. He is pretty much NT. but has some ADD like traits and has had fine motor difficulties his whole life. I have good days and bad days. Now that both kids are in school all day, I get quite a bit o... |

I also love the theory and I couldn't wait to go to those classes. It was just those little models that drove me totally insane! I did enjoy political science. I had some really good, interesting professors who had been all around the world and had first hand knowledge of what they were teaching - m... |

Boxers are a great idea. He does wear boxer-briefs already, but they are tighter than traditional boxers. I will get him some and see how he likes them. Thanks! |

When I was 19, I was an architecture student (I'm 38 now). I had such a hard time with making the little scale models that I ended up changing my major to political science, which is what my degree is in. Now, looking back, I totally wish I wouldn't have given it up. |

You're right - it could very well be a sensory issue. Maybe the underwear just isn't comfortable any more. I will have to ask him and see if we can come to some kind of compromise. He never has liked long sleeves, so maybe that's why he refused the robe. It occurred to me that maybe he might like so... |

Thank you for restraining yourself! :) Anyway, the issue isn't the nudity, but the fact that his modesty level has changed so dramatically. His 8 year old brother walks around naked after his bath and he used to do the same until he was about the same age and got hit with extreme modesty. He has bee... |

My son (13) totally surprised me last night. He was watching TV in the family room upstairs and when I went to bed I headed that way to tell him to turn the TV down a little. I came around the corner and lo and behold, he was sitting in the chair stark naked. I told him to put on some pants and he s... |

Apologies accepted! Do want to clarify that I never walk in unannounced or just knock and walk in. I always wait until he says come in. That's one thing I've taught my boys since they were small - ALWAYS knock and wait (the little one is having a bit of trouble with this concept, however). I was qui... |

Why put yourself in a box??? In my opinion, there is no reason to tell anyone that you are bi, gay, straight, purple, green, or cheese. Once you have a label, it is very hard to think outside that label. Leave yourself open to all experiences and see what happens. It sounds like you want a relations... |

Well, this certainly got more out of hand that I thought it would! Anyway, I thank you for all of your replies. I was looking for someone who would understand and validate my point of view and I was really unprepared for the passionate responses I got from a couple of you and I thank those two most ... |

Ticker and Aspie 1 - It is obvious to me that neither one of you are parents. You could ask ANY parent on the street if they found it easy to watch their babies grow up and I guarantee that a majority of them would say it was HARD!! It is VERY bittersweet to watch your children grow up!! ! It is als... |

My son isn't on any medications and he eats like someone is about to take the plate away - very fast and in great quantities. It was worse when he was younger. He had a weight problem from early on - he weighed 30 pounds at his one year checkup - because he ate so much. It's like he was insatiable. ... |
