Just so it's not a runaway yes-fest - I do have favorites, in numbers (17), colors (clear), star trek characters (that's a whole list) and Doctors (David Tenant, Tom Baker a close second, new guy is OK)

It looked kind of good leafing through it at the bookstore. Some of it seemed spot on. I'm not recommending it, just wondering if anyone has read it.

When I went to register for classes at my university (this being my first year), we were put into groups based on major and had a couple of staff there to help us. They explained what to do, but I didn't understand right away so one of the staff helped me a few times. So after I chose a few classes...

Thanks for that Willard, that makes me wonder if I was misdiagnosed, or even officially diagnosed. I was told after lengthy testing by a psychiatrist and psychologists that I definitely had it, and I was invited to participate in studies, but I don't think anything went on my "permanent record", or ...

Hi Oid and welcome! I am in a similar position, I was sure through quizzes and someone I know who teaches autistic kids that I had asperger's syndrome. I wanted a formal diagnosis just because I live near an autism research center and I wanted to participate in studies - so they could learn how to m...

Actually on my door I changed the $7.14 to $2.14. $7.14 is just cruel and really, you just get the $5 back, unless it wasn't a $5.

I'm great at mental arithmetic, and most areas of math. It's the human talkey thing that gives me trouble. My morning diet coke is $1.92 and sometimes I give the cashier $2.17. From the look on her face I night as well have handed her a dead mouse. Below is the cartoon on my door: http://dilbert.com...

Find a church with more dinosaurs?

Seriously, I feel really bad for the little girl. I would find a neighbor who could babysit for you. Then maybe in a few years see if she wants to participate in your supernatural rituals.

Well there certainly is a great variety in musical tastes among us - not terribly surprising. Interesting the video game theme thread. Here is my video contribution - one of my favorites, what and aspie sees at a dinner party (if ever forced to go to one) [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr-3...

I just listen to 90% videogame soundtracks, remixes, and orchestrations. I love the tetris theme, I learned to play it on the piano, over and over, to the chagrin of my daughters. I love the space stage music for the game spore. Sometime I just listen to that instead of playing. It's written by Bri...

Trivia factoid: David Byrne of the Talking Heads is a diagnosed Aspie :) That's awesome! Talking Heads is one of my favorite bands. Certainly makes the line in Crash Test Dummy's song "When You Go Out With Artists" ironic: If I were David Byrne / I'd go to galleries and not be too concerned. mmmm, ...

I was really doubting there really was an Asperger's syndrome until I googled wrong planet for Koyaanisqatsi and up came a thread on minimalism that mentioned lots of other music that appeals to my aspie brain that only I thought I knew about, like Brian Eno's Music for Airports and Aphex Twin. The ...

Welcome Jen! I didn't know until a little while ago that I could be diagnosed with AS. But then it's sort of a trendy thing. Back a little while ago it was "social anxiety" - but that didn't explain the special interests obsession. Given the wide range of traits of people diagnosed with AS, I'm not ...

As Thoreau said "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation."

Take little comfort in knowing for each couple you see on the beach, there are dozens sitting at home wondering which DVD to watch again.

There is an important distinction here. Not wanting friends and wanting friends and not having the social skills to have friends are two different things. The latter is a symptom of Asperger's syndrome, the former is misanthropy. And the definition of a friend is very vague. I have work acquaintance...

Hi tarento, I too was excited when I found out I had AS, only to give me better insight into my own personality and to participate in studies. I had been told several times I might have AS but dismissed it, mainly as I don't think psychology has much substance. But what really hit me is when I found...
