I do generally like to work alone. Mainly for the same reasons others have given. What I think works best, though, is a sort of compromise. Where I used to work, I was in an office with about 12 others sitting at desks nearby. We all got to know each other pretty well and, although we were basically...

how many people are at university because they want to be there? how many are there because they are supposed to be there? i imagine most of the heavy drinkers fall into the latter category. That is a really good point, and almost certainly true in many cases. I personally am at university for the ...

I'm so dissapointed: so many people on here have been within egg-throwing distance of dubya and he remains un-egged? Anyway, the only famous person I can think of is Mackenzie Crook. He plays Gareth in 'The Office' (oh and he's in that stupid Pirates of the Caribbean too). Me and my wife m...

Pears cyclopedia was mine when I was young... I used to read and re-read bits of it over and over... particularly the bits about subatomic particles and the rules for games and sports for some reason. Later I progressed on to the Encyclopedia Britannica and the OED in the school library. Even now I ...

One of my teachers in high school told me shortly before I graduated that she felt I had the potential to become the next Bill Gates. I have heard similar things from other people, so I guess you would say that the reason for my existence is to change the world with a scientific development or inve...

My wife has had purple glasses since she was diagnosed with dyslexia and scotopic sensitivity syndrome a few years ago. She says the difference they make is huge; words that were previously wobbling about, unclear, or looked as if they were floating 'above the page' are suddenly 'flat' when wearing ...

It's google's upcoming webmail service. It's really good. It comes with 1GB (1000MB!!) of storage and integrated google search so you can easily find on old email about something-or-other. It also sorts emails into 'conversations' which is really nice. At the moment it's by 'invitation only' as they...

A nice idea, and I'd consider wearing one sometimes (although I'd be more likely to if they weren't orange  ) One problem, though, is that it could possibly be mixed up with the red string worn by those ridiculous Kabbalh people. Apparently gives you protection from the evil eye  LoL :lol...

Reading some of these posts makes me so relieved. I have huge problems with this and was beginning to think it was just me :? My grades have suffered before because I was too paralyzed with anxiety to e-mail my instructors. I don't know why I was scared... I just was. This is exactly the same as me....

Yeah, I'm a huge Beatles fan and have been for years. My tastes, however, are slanted more towards their later stuff and I tend to favour John or George.

It's pretty difficult to pick a favorite song, but I think I'd have to go for either 'Strawberry Fields' or 'Tomorrow Never Knows'.

I might be slightly clumsy, but I don't think I'm really any worse than my NT friends. I do sometimes get this thing when I'm trying to sleep where it feels like I'm having to 'hold up' my body (especially my head) when it's really laying on the bed/pillow. That sounds a bit like some of the effects...
