Forum: LGBT Discussion   Topic: Any trans men who relate strongly to 'female' AS traits?

I think that many of the gendered differences in AS traits come down to socialization. I'm a transmasculine person, and I also feel that many of the 'female' AS traits are true for me. But this makes sense to me, as I was socialized as a girl and spent the first 18 years of my life living as female.

I'm transgender (FTM) and genderqueer, and do not experience personality splits. But from what you described, it doesn't really sound like you're experiencing personality splits in the typical sense, either (though maybe there's more you're not describing, or maybe I'm misunderstanding). It's normal...

I don't interrupt people too often, but when I do, it's because I know that the conversation will shift to a different topic before I get a chance to speak, or I'll forget what I wanted to say. If there's something I really want to say, sometimes I have to interrupt a little bit.

I have a fraternal twin. He is definitely not on the autism spectrum, or anywhere near it.

I participated. I helped organize a group of students at my school in holding a demonstration for the day - we stood outside the library with red duct tape over our mouths, handing out "speaking cards" to explain our reasons for not speaking. It was a really good way to spread awareness about the day.

This is more or less true for me, too. In stressful situations or situations in which people are talking about things with which I'm not intimately familiar, I have a really hard time going from thought to speech. I don't visualize words, though. In classes, I often try to write down my thoughts bef...

Mine is my first name plus the first two numbers in my locker combination my junior year in high school (so 5 years ago). For some reason, my old locker combinations always seem to stick in my head.

I'm a trans man, but also identify as genderqueer. I definitely identify more as male than as female, and I'm way happier living as a man than I was living as a woman, but I also don't consider myself to be completely male-identified. I'm somewhere in between, and I'm happy there. :)

What's the difference between a transgender and a transsexual? Transgenders are pre-op. Many never get surgery. Transsexuals are post-op. I'm transgender. Specifically... androgynous. Hmm... I would draw that distinction differently. There are many transsexual people who, for various reasons, have ...

What do you call someone who is neither masculine or feminine? People who are neither masculine or feminine can identify in all sorts of different ways. Strictly speaking, I'd say that someone who is neither masculine nor feminine would be androgynous, but they may identify as genderqueer, agender,...

I used to experience this. I'm not quite sure when it went away, though. I think it kind of faded away sometime in middle school or high school.
