I don't think Fnord sounds condescending/ snarky to me. But I'm the type of person who gets told that I'm condescending. I don't recall ever seeing such an attitude here on Wrong Planet , for example. Elsewhere, I've seen resentment against successful autistic people mainly not by autistic people th...

Why do people feel the need to tear them down? From personal experience, success by one autistic person seems to be perceived by SOME less-successful autistic people as either discrediting their identity or image as disabled people, or being somehow the cause of their self-generated misery. It's as...

My observation may not be accurate, but I've seen way more autistic people hating when another autistic person has gained success. (compared to NTs hating on another NT's success) Recently, a blind, autistic male has won America's Got Talent. While there some autistic people who are happy for him, t...

Plus, if you've survived well enough to get into a professional field, why would you admit to being autistic? Bingo. My employers don't know. People in academia are really nice and accepting of me and my oddities. Left alone to do my research I am generally pretty agreeable and easy to work with, t...

There are some jobs/professions that have traditionally attracted a disproportionate number of autistic people. These include: - engineers - computer programmers - accountants - librarians - civil service jobs of various kinds - health care workers of various kinds Only a minority of autistic peopl...

I rarely ever hear about media talking about autistic people in their professional field. Is this because it's really really rare or is it because charities think that people with successful careers don't need help? There used to be some news articles about autistic genius kids getting really good g...

Leave those people. Don't waste time on them. They won't understand no matter how much you explain to them.

Not sure if this is related, but I used to talk all about science that other classmates won't understand, because I didn't realize they didn't read the same books as I did. I was then being placed in academic acceleration program. Till now, I find it difficult to realize what people might be struggl...

I think it fluctuates over the years.
In some years, I could feel really ill and unable to work or study.
But in some years, I could work.

Spending less time socializing gives me more time in practicing my music and art, and more time to read books about science.

...but then people started sh*****g on my country and calling my country a dystopia. So I ended up being even more sad. I don't like judging people so often internalize the upset (take the upset on myself). I am finally learning to externalize a bit more - find balance. There is an English expressi...

I'm diagnosed with autism but not ADHD (even when I think I have ADHD)
I can pass as an NT.
I apply jobs without mentioning my autism and most employers don't find out.

There is no way for strangers on the Net to give constructive feedback on this post without more info. You have a short history on this site. So we don't know you that well. But there are two obvious issues in your post. One is: why do folks call you out so often? The second is: how should you reac...

Wow! Too bad you broke up, and it sucks that the therapist kinda rubbed salt into a soar wound like that. But having said that I will also say that my guess is that autistics are not necessarily more tolerant of each other than NTs are toward autistics. But that they aren't necessarily worse either...
