It's very clear that the person who launched this petition -- who has been berating me in identical language in multiple forums for a year -- either never actually read my book or likes to pretend that he hasn't. By the way, my stipulation with ASA was that my session not be a long talk, but a conve... |

@norny: I haven't read the book but I've read online that part of its message is to highlight that autism is a difference rather than a disability, and if it rarely talks about LFA, you've got bias there. I actually find it incredibly depressing that people are willing to reiterate even the most bla... |

"I would really like to know if these issues are addressed in it, and if so, how"
Well, there's a really easy way to do that: read the book! B19: excellent post, by the way. |

You'll be glad to know that Sukhareva's work is not overlooked in my book! I talk about it a lot.

> The article perpetuates the myth that Kanner only studied low functioning autism.
This is not at all what my book does. My book surgically deconstructs this myth, actually. "NeuroTribes" adds a tremendous amount of new information to the discussion of Kanner and Asperger.

The sex drive will go down as you age -- and you might even miss it. But yeah, it's good to try to be aware of the other person's comfort level and never force or even try to argue someone into doing anything they're not cool with. Good luck! |

It's very "normal" to have a super-high sex drive when you're 19, virgin or not, Aspie or not. And it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with testosterone in the womb (which is still a contested theory of autism). Someone will be lucky to meet you! |

Yes, but it's somewhat of a moot point, as the Asperger diagnosis is disappearing next year into the umbrella "Autism Spectrum Disorder." |

That "absurd caricature" Rick Santorum is now the #2 candidate of one of America's two major parties. That qualifies as an existential threat. |

It's great to hear that you're feeling better and that your life is progressing in ways that you feel great about, but it's a stretch to say that you "cured your autism" -- particularly as measured by the AQ test, which is not a diagnostic instrument, but more like a fun and provocative questionnair... |
