lbouchard you hit the nail on the head. dd is dx hfa she is DEFINATELY on th spectrum but she is borderline autistic disorder. the borderline cases are s.o.l. the thing about autism is a little goes along way :roll:

how old did you say dd was-has she has she had any interventions. sounds like as or something akin to it. did you do the childbrain.com quizz for her?

its a witch hunt. these parents are uniformed. if his iep says that this is a behavior he has he CANT be disiplined

ouch! I wouldn't know how to convince them or what protocol is needed. I am in a similar situation. I have regional center dx and 2 dx's from the MIND institute but dd's autism preschool teacher is POSITIVE they are wrong. I dont know why I find that so frustrating but I DO!! !! !

DD was dxed today on the cusp of autistic disorder. I thought I verified that if she improved she would still be on the spectrum but perhaps a lesser dx like pdd-nos. On another site someone said this is not so, that pdd-nos is atypical autism. Does this mean that if she improves she will be off the...

OK DD dxed HFA at 26 m now 3.8 At her IEP teacher said: She is 1 year to 1.5 behind in everything execpt gross motor. It think it is really important to see someone who specializes in ASDs and has ALOT of experience. Some kids just manifest their symptoms so differently than the text book cases. AS is a relatively new dx and takes expertise.

The MIND institute is in Davis Ca but the area I will be going to is in Sacramento Ca. It is considered a world wode authority on ASD research. DD was in the CHARGE study that is the single largest study on ASD kids to date. She will now be in the sleep study. I'll keep you in the loop. My firt app ...

I'm going to the MIND institute in 2 weeks. She will be in a sleep study and they will readminister the ADOS, Vineland, and Mullen. They will also test her development age in various things and give me a work up. YIPPEE!! !! no more guessing for me, and I will get about $4k worth of testing FREE!! !...

So, my question is… am I worrying too much? As read through various articles on the Asperger’s, sometimes it fits, and sometimes it doesn’t. And I guess, the real question is… at what point is something like Asperger’s a problem, and at what point is it just a personality trait? a great question and...
