Sounds like a typical depression to me, no autistic traits involved on this. Most people get fired or have to leave their jobs at some time on their life, this doesn't mean your career is over, you just have to carry on. You should watch it as an opportunity to do something else you might like better.

Exactly, no book will tell you. Basically a human being is such a huge collection of skills, and each one of these skills can be affected in so many different ways and degrees ... My suggestion is usually: try to focus on those skills that will enable your kid to fully function on his own at school/...

Each kid is so different from one another, even if they are diagnosed the same. I feel we are just trying to fit them inside concepts because "spectrum" isn't so easy to manage for us, doctors and our governments. Fortunately, you can find parents and therapists that know they should just focus on s...

Autism is being increasingly associated with the way your axons are wired to your neurons. These connections are mainly affected by your genes, but also a lot by your environment (experiences, learning, etc.). On a neurotypical, axons are wired, on average, on larger distances inside your brain. Thu...

What we really need is a global currency. Merging euro, dollar, sterling pound, yen and yuan would probably be enough, the rest of the countries would soon follow.

Special support on spanish public schools is underfunded. My son does not have any disruptive behaviour, but he needs at least 2 hours each day with somebody that explains him what is going on. Unfortunately, I can only get 3 hours a week with teachers that only know how to handle language disabilit...

I am the fortunate father of a very smart kid with PDD-NOS. He has a few language and attention problems but he can follow games and school lessons. At 4 years old he can write and read a few words. He understands a lot of things. I have a problem when trying to get him into schools: Regular public ...

I usually drive slowly, but within safety limits. I ignore anything happening outside my car if it doesn't help me to arrive safely to my destination. I get angry when somebody tells me I'm going too slow (usually going at maximum velocity that the road legally allows me) but I try to calm down myse...

Epigenetics might be related with autism, and this will be affected by your environment. I suspect 2 identical twins raised on different environments might end up expressing different parts of their gene pool due to the epigenetic suppresion of some of their genes, whish is quite probably related wi...
