I'm deeply concerned with aesthetics, and if a film isn't up to my standards in that regard then I find it difficult to be engaged by. I don't select films by genres, more often directors or just something with a "plot" summary that piques my interest. Above all, I find very ambiguous, mysterious an...

So why are movies disturbing to us. What are some reasons? I think my main reason would be it hits home.

The more plausible/realistic a movie presents itself as, the more disturbing it is, IMO.

The Vanishing (1988, a.k.a. Spoorloos ) is perhaps the most disturbing film I've seen. Not a drop of blood, virtually no on-screen violence except for a brief fistfight. Yet still completely, utterly devastating. It has probably the most terrifying and disturbing, yet totally rational and inevitabl...

You know, those wonderful times when you make a misjudgment of social cues or whatever and as a result feel like disappearing into thin air or curling up into a ball. One comes to mind for me, surely not the worst but it felt pretty bad at the time. One day in high school, as some sort of class proj...

Like anything it has its ups and downs. The novelty of it wears off after several years and it can become somewhat commonplace, or even have undesirable effects that didn't manifest before. I find that doing acid several times made me more satisfied being sober and less eager to do any drugs, really...

I'm very sensitive to sunlight, I always have my curtains closed. I definitely prefer nighttime to day. For some reason I just feel almost physically uncomfortable when the sun is out, and get stressed out a lot easier, but when it gets dark I somehow feel relaxed.

For a long time (and it's only gotten worse in the past year) I've felt like I just want to escape into something, anything. Most imaginatively, I want to hide away in France or another place in the countryside, where magically I won't need to work or deal with strangers and will just be free to do ...

I just can't stand the fake nature of most small-talk. Rarely are anything but the most positive and superficial words spoken. It feels so uninvolving to me. I just want to dive right into talk about the other person (and possibly my shared) interest(s), that's when there's actually passion and feel...

I don't wear the same clothes everyday, but my wardrobe is pretty limited. I basically alternate (lately, anyway) between black shirts and brown shorts and brown shirts and black shorts. I just don't care how I look really, as long as I look merely adequate; good enough.

I haven't seen a lot of films with supposed AS characters, but I think Punch-Drunk Love did a pretty great job in depicting what it's like to have aspergers, though as stated above it's never made explicit in the film. But everything down to the lighting, score and camerawork gives the viewer a sens...

No drug is a cure. LSD, mushrooms and cannabis all have had lasting beneficial effects on me but nothing monumental, and not really much relating to AS.
