Well, she would not let him put the sensors on her so we didn't get it done yet this is a major issue, she has anxiety and refuses to do things. I think they look at 3 brain waves. Will find out more when we go back. |

There have been several studies that show that neurofeedback is probably efficacious for conditions such as Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD. Since medication hasn't worked for my child, I am seriously considering neurofeedback as one of the promising alternatives to try. Same here, my daughter is gett... |

It is interesting that you describe her as oppositional defiant. I was often called "impossible" as a child, but in reality, the explanations the adults offered me for their rules were usually not good enough for me (as in, they did not make enough sense or contain enough logic or reason to constit... |

Hi summers upon us and I'm in need of some help. I am a mom of two ADHD young children one w aspergeers and the other I have suspensions on. So here we are w summer time. I have the month of July planned out for my son but between now and then I'm a little stuck and with limited finances. So I'm lo... |

I read aspergirls. It was helpful a bit - but not as much as I hoped. I think talking here to adult aspies will be most helpful for you. I hope that article helped some too. I am almost done with Aspergirls, I am at the very end of the book. To be honest I found reading it a little depressing. I ha... |

I think when it comes to extra circular activities, always attend a class beforehand. Or if that is not possible, even just show them the classroom. Something, anything that will prepare them for it. It could have been any number of things that set her off: the change in routine, the social aspect,... |

The main thing that sets my daughter (who is 6 1/2) and I apart is the difference in situations like these. If my Mum booked something which I had said I wanted to go to, I'd go, whether I'd changed my mind or not and no matter how anxious I was. I'd cry in bed and feel awful, while I was there, bu... |

Hmm, when I was younger I tried horseback riding lessons for awhile and I didn't like it so I eventually dropped out of it. My mum paid weekly though so money didn't really matter. When I was younger my family knew I had developmental disabilities but they didn't know it was AS. AS was just startin... |

A few things come to mind: Did you ask her about the girl who was there who is in her class at school? I'm curious, because you recognized her but they didn't acknowledge each other. Is it possible she's had problems with her? Not that I think that would explain all of this, necessarily. But when I... |

I spoke with her and I told her that I am sure there would be a way for her not to wear the bracelet or to wear it someplace else and not her wrist. She said no! She didn't like the room but she can't explain it. She said she will go to camp next week if the room is OK. WHAT THE HECK? I don't know w... |

Thank you for the advice. Here is how it just played out. I explained to her that she did say she wanted to go to the camp. She insists she only wants to go to "magic tree house camp" next week and she never wanted art camp (but she did!). She is she stuck on the fact that she never said she wanted ... |

My 7 year old daughter has AS. She is smart, funny, creative......and inflexible, disrespectful, cannot see others point of view, is controling etc. I signed her up for an art camp (3 hours in the afternoon for a week) because she said she wanted to do it. Well, today is the first day and she is ref... |

Hmmmm. There are parents who have seen great improvements in their child's functioning after visiting biomedical doctors and finding out their child is deficient in something and then they can take suppliments to help. I don't know much about Chelation. If the child has heavy metal poisoning then ho... |

. Take a look at Autism Speaks and then see if you think that the US considers Autism something to be proud of. NO they are intent on forcing these kids to be NT, to do everything in their power, to CURE, control, etc, etc. The defeat autism now message is really powerful, and that is everywhere. I... |

I think the location on the spectrum definitely has something to do with when it all will become apparent. My son was diagnosed at 7 but there were several observations done when he was 4 that totally missed it. Face it, all toddlers have social difficulties so if you get an outgoing Aspie like my ... |
