OK, so I don't really buy the extreme male brain hypothesis, and I think the idea of a gendered brain is kind of bogus to begin with. But I took an online test & thought it was kind of strange to note that my brain is really "male", according to the researchers anyway. (I'm a woman and self-diag...

...and there have been a lot of those times lately. This is JUST a rant. So please don't anyone be offended or take it too seriously. I am so tired of seeing some people who don't seem particularly bright being so ridiculously successful, so much more successful than I ever could be, because they kn...

I can relate. I've also taken logic and calc, and I share your strengths and weaknesses. I use flashcards to help with the memorization--connecting the rules and formulas with their names. Like it does for you, the logical/mathematical part comes pretty naturally for me.

I think I'm an alright driver, but then again so do all the terrible drivers out there... I love to drive manual. It's one of the few times when I feel reasonably coordinated. Driving is stressful for me though, because of my OCD. I always feel like there's someone in my blind spot, even though I ch...

I hardly ever read fiction, let alone chick-lit. The only fiction I ever read is short sci-fi stories. There are some really good sci-fi anthologies out there and I can read a story in one sitting. But when it comes to longer books, I pretty much stick to non-fiction about math & science.

I used to have this kind of OCD. It was centered around a fear that I had miscommunicated or hurt someone's feelings inadvertently, and the associated compulsion was reassurance seeking. Sounds like you have a similar problem, OP.

I've been told that I have tics. I am diagnosed with OCD, but my OCD treatment isn't helping with these tics. Here's how they work: A bad thought pops into my head--something that makes me really, really uncomfortable. As an automatic response to this thought, I swear or say other words out loud, or...

I take quite a few meds for my OCD. I can't function without them. They help a lot, so I'm all for meds when they really help. But there's something I'm confused about. Lately I've been having depressions that lasts for months and "highs" which last for about 2 days. I love the highs. I feel like I'...

depressing...i don't notice any of this things first, and so they are not high priorities for me in my own appearance either. other women must not think very highly of me... i don't really understand this whole thing of judging people based on their appearance when you've never even spoken to them. ...

When I was younger, I used to obsess over finding that exact moment when my brain made a decision. It's hard to explain...but say that I need to turn on a light. At some point, after a little deliberation, I go to turn on the light. The trouble is I've never been able to find that point where the de...

I can totally relate to this. I have OCD and probably HFA. For me it's anxiety and mental rituals of OCD that block me from doing what I want. It really does feel like my mind is not under my control.

I'm a 23 y/o student just about to graduate university and get started with a 2nd degree/master's. I've had a lot of trouble academically over the years. A lot of this has to do with my OCD (which I am diagnosed with) as it interferes with school a lot. I am currently receiving accomodations from th...
