Hi ericatris I am so sorry for how you must be feeling right now. I would suggest that you change your therapist. My wife has finally decided to divorce me after 27 years. I found out about Asperger's less than three years ago. I am 54. WHen I found out that I was likely Asperger's, I worked very ha... |

Hi reckoning Your situation sounds very familiar. I am a 54 year old married aspie who found out sbout the condition only 2 years ago. I am happy to try to answer some of your questions but from experience, I would rather talk detail in private. Your husband's behaviour is very typically aspie. He c... |

For me sunglasses or headphones would not help at all. They may even make things worse. However, I am not hyper-sensitive to sound or light. For me, sensory overload happens because, like many aspies, I am not good at processing allot of stimuli in real time. I seem to need more time to reason throu... |

If you are interested in how many INTJs who score high on the Aspie Quiz, you can go through this thread: http://intjforum.com/showthread.php?t=2071 It's 600 posts in that thread, and on each profile it says what personality type they are, it would take a while to collect the statistics, but if you... |

I couldn't find any scientific data but there seem to be plenty of people saying the have aspergers and are not INTJs Do all INTJ's have "(II) Restricted repetitive & stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests and activities, as manifested by at least one of the following: (A) encompassing pre... |

I stated earlier that I am no expert and psychology is not my gig but there does seem to be much credibility to the "science" of psychology, with many cited papers supporting the technique. Success in obtaining many senior positions in the UK and Middle East at least, may depend on a desired psychol... |

I miss a lot of things so I don't always show that I care. I suppose that might make me a jerk but only by accident. When I realize someone is in need or upset then I try to help. Me too and I feel realy awful when I realise that I have missed something that I should have known, particularly if I h... |

Answer: where one defines and sets the boundary.
The INTJ personality type seems to fit the impairments that fit my AS. does INTJ = AS? |

Thanks Delphiki. I'm no expert and I have no interest in the subject really. If one disregards Myers Briggs, when does a personality type tip over the edge to become AS? Am I just a jerk or do I have an impairment? I had never even heard of AS two years ago and I had got through nearly 52 years with... |

Why?
The descriptions of INTJ include, lack of empathy, blindness to non verbal communication, etc. When are these normal and when do they become an impairment? |

I am a little lost and confused. From several online Jung/Myers-Briggs online personality tests, confirmed by more than one professional work related test, I fall very strongly into the INTJ personality type. For the general population I am informed that this personality type is very rare, about 3%.... |

I grew up in a rough area. I don't think having AS made bullying any worse for me than my NT peers. I was of average build but I was stubborn enough to stand up to the bullies. If I was going to get beaten up I thought that I may as well put up a fight. I got a bit of a reputation for being unpredic... |

Hi Morbius You are not alone in this situation. I am the last perrson to offer advice. I am 11 years your senior and known about my AS for about 18 months. I realised about my AS because on my daughter. My wife has written me off since we realised that I had AS. I understand that you love your wife ... |

I hate the subtle rules, which keep changing depending on which way the wind is blowing, that we are expected to obey faultlessly, even though the weathervane is broken. |
