My son (7, Aspie) was recently diagnosed as having a tic disorder. He has multiple motor tics going on for about a year including: rapid blinking, nose crinkling/twitching, shoulder shrugging, mouth twitches, and a few others I'm not thinking of. Anyway, when he was diagnosed with the tic disorder t...

His IQs were 73 and 100. They did give us strengths and weaknesses on the ADOS. Some strengths were: talking about something in the past, no repetitive behavior (none seen during the ADOS). Some weaknesses were: conversation, stereotypical language, social overtures, and others I can't think of righ...

My 6 year old son was diagnosed about a year ago with Asperger's, he recently had an ADOS (module 3) done to determine if he was eligible for a study. We just found out that his ADOS result was Autistic Disorder. We don't know specific scores, just the result was in the Autistic ranger, not the ASD ...

My son has several issues with saliva that I was hoping you all could maybe give me some insight... Every since he was little, my son has seemed to have an excess of saliva, he drooled a lot as a baby/toddler even when not teething. He currently does and always has blow bubbles with his saliva (a st...

In the last few weeks my son has started grabbing his grandmother's glasses off her face at times when he can reach them. He never did this up until recently, not even when he was a baby. Anyone else have a kid that does this? Any idea how to get him to stop? It usually happens without any warning a...

This post is only partly ASD related... I posted a while back about concern for child care for my 5 year old with Asperger's who will start school in a few months. He won't be able to stay where he is now and there is no way that we can do summers, holidays, and snow days (we are in VA but get a TON...

The only way to get Respite in Virginia (that I know of) is with Medicaid Waiver. J might qualify for the DD waiver, but you can't apply until 5 years, 9 months and there is a huge waiting list... The childcare provider we have is only licensed to 5 years 11 months of age, so that won't really help...

Yes we are in the US. We are in a small town in a rural area. I don't know of any special needs camps around here other than one for ASD, but it is only a few days, and last year was 4 saturdays.

My son is 5 and not in school just yet, he will be starting in August...Right now he goes to a private homebased day care with a woman who has been keeping kids for over 30 years. She's kept J for 3 years and has been GREAT. J has behavioral issues - especially aggression, and of course, meltdowns. ...

My son (5) is obsessed with racing, specifically NASCAR. He loves to watch the races on tv, watch old races on tape, and play NASCAR video games or watch others (and even the demo mode) race. The problem is, this causes him a lot of anxiety when the race doesn't go the way he thinks it should. He ca...

Hi...I am new. I don't have AS...Although I've discovered I am closer than I thought to being AS. Anyway, the reason I am here is my son...He has not (yet) been diagnosed, however we highly suspect he is on the spectrum, most likely AS. He has an evaluation next month...  My son is 5, he is obsessed...
