My 6.5 year old daughter (possible aspie IMO) talked precociously early. Actually it wasn't that "early" overall...she had a few words before age 1, but then she gained language very quickly and could speak in sentences very early. She still excels at speech, but I would say that she has a few minor... |

I think it just means that he is considered "delayed" enough in one area to qualify for services. My son at 18 months qualified for speech therapy because he showed enough % of delay to be considered "in need of services", but he has never had a label applied to him. |

I'm glad that his appointment went so well and gave you some things to work on. It can be a long process, so I would suggest not to get too overly pushy on it with your son...he's still young and won't have the focus to be able to do things like flashcards and working on speech for very long. It sho... |

My son is not diagnosed, no. We haven't had him evaluated at this point, because he's not clear cut and if he is on the spectrum, would be on the PDD-NOS (some symptoms but not all) or very mild side IMO. We're taking the approach right now of just getting him help in areas he may need it (speech wa... |

I think that all that any of us can do is try to get them help for the things they are struggling with. In his case, right now you can identify for sure that he needs help with language and speech. IMO, anything else will become more clear down the road. My son is now 3.5, has been in speech since 1... |

My son (probably mostly NT with a few AS characteristics) has been in speech therapy since he was 18 months old. He was delayed both in receptive and expressive language...at his 18 month evaluation, he was considered to have the language skills of a 9 month old. He's now 3.5 and while he's still wo... |

My son (no diagnosis, may or may not be on spectrum) is coming up on 3.5 now. He has had some ongoing speech issues and starting at 18 months began receiving speech therapy through Early Intervention. It was so very easy and wonderful for us...the therapist came to our house once a week. His therapi... |

My 3 year old (possibly AS, possibly not) has eating and stomach issues. He is reluctant to try things he doesn't recognize, and will go through phases where he hardly seems to eat at all. He's never been a big kid but also has stayed pretty consistently where he is on the doctor's charts...so I try... |

I know that no one on here can diagnose a child, least of all myself as my own children are question marks LOL. But the approach that I am taking is to explore what advantages I think it would provide my child to seek a diagnosis. At their current ages, 6 yr old girl and 3 yr old boy, my children bo... |

Both of my children (not diagnosed but with a few possibly AS-type traits) are in a Montessori school. My 6 year old daughter is in Lower Elementary, and my 3 year old son is in preschool. They both excel where they are, but I have noticed this year that my daughter has more trouble motivating herse... |

Do you know about what dosages you are giving to your child? I recently had blood tests done and my Vit D was dangerously low. I am taking prescription supplements right now to get it back on track. My doctor (a DO, not an MD) also suggested I take B12 separately, in addition to a regular multivitam... |

I would bring up the speech thing with her. By 18 months it would concern me that he hasn't said any recognizable words. I wouldn't bring up anything else, but I would say something along the lines of "You know, Early Intervention gives free evaluations and therapy. Maybe you should have him checked... |

Is she in control of herself when she's screaming, or not? I know my 3 year old boy has always been very loud. He's also speech delayed, and in the past has been very bad about screaming/yelling when he doesn't get his way. In his case, however, it doesn't typically last for that long. He's never ou... |

My daughter is very sensitive to my tone of voice too (she's 6, undiagnosed but with some aspie tendencies). I try to apologize if I know I'm being overly harsh for no reason, and I encourage her to TELL ME if she feels like I'm being harsh so that we can talk about it. The hard part is that there a... |

I don't have any answers, but am right there with you and just wanted to give you a virtual hug. :) I posted about my son a few days ago too, he's also 3. We are taking the wait-and-see approach, and treating anything that he seems to need help with in the meantime (he has been somewhat speech delay... |
