Personally, I very slightly prefer having Asperger's. But I've taken to saying iAsperger's/igh-functioning autism. Doesn't matter. I'm no different, whatever I'm called. |

I do tend to overthink everything, because I still on't grasp the concept of why overthinking is bad, and with Facebook that's a problem for somebody at least once a week. It was a "Blade Runner" moment—I go along passing as a typical human until I fail somebody's compassion test and stand accused o... |

Thank you. Sometimes I just get lost in what a "normal" reaction would be. I don't censor anybody but myself on the page, because I know most of us with EDS are in pain, but it gets confusing some days. |

I try to deal with Facebook for an Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) page—believe me the irony of someone like me dealing with social media isn't lost. I keep getting called condescending, that exact word. Today, because I wasn't able to discern a desire for emotional support from the post, "I think this... |

Wonder about it? No. It answered a lot of questions I still had about myself, and I'm a lot more content with myself, with what I can do well and the areas in which I have trouble. |

It's not that I don't feel pain, or that it doesn't affect me. I have a lot of chronic and acute pain as a result of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder of collagen that results in almost all my joints being able to slip or fall apart. But I'm just as likely become annoyed and irrit... |

I don't much see the point of a social life. If I'm largely happy on my own, so what? Now and then I worry about not having a life, until I realize I'm just worried about odd things like, if I died, no one would notice in time to feed the cats, and don't really care about getting out to see people. ... |

The kicker is, though, that I often miss the obvious.
Ha! Yes.
I'm a great proofreader for instance, my eye sees typos before my brain understands what's wrong. |

"…autistic individuals may in principle be very well able to attend to social cues, feel emotions and even empathize with others or read their minds, but they avoid doing so, because it is emotionally too overwhelming, anxiety-inducing, and stressful." Yes, this. For me, at least. To the point of b... |

I can give you an intellectual answer immediately. But still at 54 I have trouble figuring out how I feel about something when asked, or that that was what was asked for—I don't want to be inaccurate. What seems to really throw people is when I respond to "How do you feel about..." with, "I don't kn... |

I consider it stimming when it's something I'm doing to focus my brain in a situation that's giving me too much sensory input. For instance, sitting in the waiting room at the county hospital, too much noise with people yelling names, doors slamming, people talking, too bright, too many smells, too ... |

The dreams that I remember—I have a great deal of sleeping difficulty, because my brain forgets to breathe several times an hour, and my dreams usually don't take place in deep sleep because I rarely *get* to deep sleep—anyway, the dreams I remember are almost always full-blown movies in which I'm t... |

For me, it's too much empathy. It can literally paralyze me, and I frequently wonder why others don't seem to feel that identification. I don't understand how one puts that into a "norma;" social interaction. Yes, crowds tire me out, too. It's partly the overstimulation—too much noise, too much move... |

I'm far more likely to "talk" to the animals on my walks than the humans. The animals are authentic, I guess the word is. Easier for me to understand their intentions than most humans. |

I forgot to mention my visual snow/pixellation/whatever that intensifies with overstimulation. It doesn't really impair my vision so far, but it's definitely visible and occasionally a distraction. It's always seemed to me like mine was excessive "system noise", nerve or brain static. Yeah. You kno... |
