I smile often and in the wrong places. It has absolutely no correlation to my state of happiness. I am however very happy when I hold my daughter. She can sit in my arms for a long time where we say nothing. We just enjoy ourselves. She is 2 years and 2 months now. She loves me and I Iove her. We en... |

No, you are not alone. My problems with this is varying, to put it mildly. But at it's worst I have had to leave the subway on the next stop just to get away from all the people that was there. I still feel quite weird about it, and I don't know if I can explain understandably here. So right now I w... |

Thank you, everyone. I will try all the suggestions posted. I have another question... I notice some "scores" at the bottom of some of the postings. Whate are these? The case is that aspies love to get their condition(s) put into some system. There are individual reasons for this, but if I should p... |

I have trouble lying, even on the phone. I can be deceptive without lying though. For example I could say "I got a flat tire. I'm going to be late." These are both true but unrelated statements. I didn't say when I got the flat tire. The person on the other end of the phone will assume that I'm goi... |

that being said it's obviously not good to have a diagnosis of ANY mental illness or disability. And there is no value in people knowing in real life, I can tell you from experience particularly in America. If you have it and they know and they have any reason to not like you then that will only fu... |

Numb your mind - either with practice and discipline, if you're old enough numb it with alcohol, and - if you're old enough - some combination of both is typically optimal. Alcohol. That's my medicine. It's sad, but I must do something to dumb myself down to be able to survive in this zoo called "s... |

You could find a special interest and devote all your spare time to that. No can do. I would need to set aside time to pester you guys here. This is one of my special interests. It is also one of my savant skills - posting random crap on the Internets. But many people have this savant skill. So the... |

I hear a lot about people who thought they were autistic, then eventually went through the diagnostic process and their suspicions were confirmed. But surely not everybody that thinks they're on the spectrum actually is. Has anybody gone for an assessment and found out they weren't actually autisti... |

I was thinking if you needed to get work accomodations at any point. But maybe that is not even an issue for you. Ah, okay. I don't know much about these matters. I live in Finland, and I don't know if they even have stuff like that here. I have a job that is well beneath me, considering I am a pro... |

Don't you think that if supercomputers had feelings, they would get bored of doing simple addition and subtraction all day, instead of calculating pi to the hundred billionth digit? Let me emphasize with personal experience. I am virtually never bored. I have done my tests, an I score well above th... |

Don't you think that if supercomputers had feelings, they would get bored of doing simple addition and subtraction all day, instead of calculating pi to the hundred billionth digit? Bad analogy. A computer, as it is today, would not care less. Why not a lazy one that finds it nice to roam in the id... |

I've had this. My shrink told me on our next to last session that she "suspected" asperger from our first session. On our next to last session she still did. On our last session, she told me that she could not diagnose me. Reason: I made it through school. Right... This is an entirely different pro... |

foreveryoung wrote: That's what an NT told me. Said that you either have autism or you don't, and aspergers is just for whiny white people who are outcasts but want to feel important so they give themselves a label. Is there any truth to this?
I must admit my first thought was: Who cares what an NT says. |
