I dont have enough in common with a vast majority of people to substantiate hanging out with them for hours and hours. Occasionally it happens, but more and more rarely with age, it seems :( . Even worse, I feel like the more I hang around certain people and not taking to the convo like everyone els... |

When someone tips off to a topic I am very interested in or know a lot about, I can feel my excitement build up and I start talking at 1,000 miles an hour. Even if I'm self-aware enough at the time to see what I'm doing I usually still cant control my speed speech. However, bring up something neithe... |

In my experience "coming out" with Aspergers, especially with self-diagnosis, can be met with a lot of criticism. I told one of my bffs from childhood, boyfriend, and mom. Each of them didn't want to accept it and accused me indirectly of being a hypochondriac. I dont know if it really benefited me ... |

Yes, I have. There's the saying "beggars cant be choosers", but even with my limited selection of folks who want to be around me I have sent a few packing. One girl just started acting like we were close friends when I only knew her a little from one class and a little superficial as well so I never... |

Anyone here been diagnosed with Dyscalculia? It's the mathematical equivalent of dyslexia. For some reason people widely accept dyslexia as existing but scoff that someone cant keep track of numbers in their head. I haven't been officially diagnosed, but I feel like I certainly meet much of the crit... |

Prandicle. So obscure its no longer listed in the dictionary. I adopted it online and promised to use the word. It means a small meal. I.e. I had a most delightful prandicle of Pringles and string cheese! |

When you describe women's magazines like that, yes, I suppose they do seem rather appalling. I guess its been so long since I've bought a women's magazine I haven't given it much thought. But yes, it seems like they constantly cycle through the same exact articles with slightly different wording. Th... |

I have a social paradox. I want to be around people and have close relationships, but very few people even appeal to me enough to make that effort, and those I do it either backfires or they aren't interested in forming a close friendship. With my family in a different state my only close "friends" ... |

Yes I own a copy. I saw the Aspergirls girl throwing her arms up on the cover of another book so I find it kind of funny they chose to use a stock image for the cover. I noticed the book tends to highlight extreme instances, and lots of prodigies. It made me feel a little inferior being both heavily... |

I dressed more boyish when I was 12-13, and then kinda switched to jeans and tee mostly, non baggy. I've alternated throughout my life through dressing more girly v. boyish, although usually kinda frumpy. I am dirt poor right now so fashion really isnt something I can invest much time and finances i... |

I can relate. Not so much about rape/cops but certainly about drugs and alcohol and other debaucherous activities. So many people like to wear their bad deeds like a badge of honor. Seems so contrary and unappealing. The best you can try to do is change your environment if you can, either like a com... |

Believe it or not, they won't believe you. It's horrible, I know, but it's true. They'll say they don't know what Asperger's is. When you tell 'em it's a form of autism they'll just look at you like you're crazy. Yeah, I'm speaking from experience. I told 'em but all they gave me was a 'deer in the... |

I hadn't heard of this before, but several of the symptoms overlap Aspergers. Are the two independent conditions or do all Aspergers people fall under this category? Video I came across link here.

Sometimes I have trouble controlling the sound level of my voice. Do you too? How far away are you when you yell out hello? Have you already greeted them earlier in the day? What is the personality type or types this is happening with or is it universal? Those factors seem to affect whether or not I... |

Yes that is a good point that NTs want to imitate other NT's and use the same abbreviated text. When NTs communicate via the iphone or cell phone they use abbreviated text and not sure if they would use it on an internet forum. Gah! The above comments are a bit condescending. As an NT I am no more ... |

What were the supposed "racist" claims you made? It sounds like you didn't intend to be but depending on your wording the whole racism stuff is a very sensitive issue. I can relate to you on the bitterness issue, although usually people's wording of choice is that I'm "spiteful". And yes, in some re... |
