Being "self-absorbed with own thoughts/fantasies, until the point that don't notice many things that occur around" (my main problem - not diagnosed) can be considered a type of "poor information filtering and processing"? Not directly. My opinion here. Inertia of the mind, hyper-focus, detached fro... |

You don't have to exclude (1), sensory/information processing issues apply here as well. I think (1) is the only where one can assume that poor information processing could be causing it, like people working on "mono" and not being able to work "multi-track," But for example "(2) failure to develop... |

differences between people with high functioning autism and aspergers are so slight My interest is not the level of functioning but what is causing it, what leads to the diagnosis. I could imagine that testing for and detecting "poor information filtering and processing" would be – if not easier – ... |

I just finished reading Donna Williams "Autism: An inside-out Approach." She says that "what makes people autistic, in my view, is the range of complex and varying involuntary and voluntary adaptations to information overload caused by poor information filtering and processing." According to her, wh... |

"The incidence is far higher than for Somali children resident in Somalia" Somalia being a failed state, people there have probably no interest / no knowledge / no resources do diagnose Asperger's. No wonder there are so few down there. They should compare the incidence levels in Sweden with other s... |

I hope that makes a little more sense. Donna Williams's book Autism: An Inside-Out Approach discusses this at more length. If you don't want to get that, she writes about it a little in this PDF file: http://soeweb.syr.edu/media/documents/2010/7/in_the_real_worldwilliams.pdf Yes, it does make a lot... |

It's seems more like how well someone can keep the external world from invading their internal world. I sometimes wonder if other people's unemotionality is one of those long-term shutdown things, like one of those things that autistic people trade off for something else. That's very interesting. Y... |

You are 34% neurotypical! You are sort of neurotypical, but also show signs of autism. You probably enjoy intellectual activities more than socializing or maybe you enjoy socializing, but you aren't a genius at it. You could be autistic, but may not be. => Great! This leaves me stuck where I was bef... |

Are meltdowns something all Aspies have some time in their lives?
If not, do you know what percentage of Aspies have meltdowns once in a while or have had meltdowns over their lifetime? The majority, the minority?
(I never had any.) |

Hi! - Welcome! There's a lot of other tests out there! Among others these: glennrowe.net/BaronCohen.aspx But they're not all the truth. Theres a Aspie i know of, that scores raound 50/200 AQ, and 157/200 NT, and yet is Dx'd Aspie... His graph looks like this: http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo22... |

Thank you, gnatterfly. Well, I did take the test and it says that I am most likely an NT. I have looked at the graphical results many people have posted here of their tests and the area is more to the right side of the center, mine is more to the left side. I believe the confusion will always be wit... |

Hallo I am a 48 year-old male NT with what I think could be called some Aspie traits. Maybe NST (Neuro SEMI-typical) would be the better term for me. Being (probably) on the spectrum (though at an intensity that will never make me "officially" an Aspie) is the best explanation I found up to this dat... |

Hmmmmm, let's see . . . Somebody behind the scenes laughing all the way to the bank - Check, check and doublecheck! I think you are right. It looks like selfpromotion + promotion for the book written by this guy Garret LoPorto ( the same on the video). The book costs 35 bucks, you can get Attwood's... |
