I know that I've posted this before but it sums up my life and what I would say in response to this post so perfectly there's no reason not to post it again. XD http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html Oh my god, this just described my life! I burst out laug... |

I can relate to this. All my life I feel like I've been imitating people to get by. I often feel like a chameleon that changes to fit different situations. My earliest memory of doing this was at kindergarten. I remember being uninterested in most of the games. It was an alien environment and I didn... |

You should read the books from Daniel Tammet, he has Synesthesia himself and speak about it in his books. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look into it. If I say banana, and you think 'yellow', is that synesthesia? No, because bananas are yellow so it's therefore a logical/natural association... |

Do you experience synesthesia? I'm curious as I read that people with AS/Autism are prone to it. If you do, do you find that the intensity fluctuates? If it does, what tends to enhance or reduce it for you? I'm asking because I have synesthesia and use it to make music. However I've noticed it's not... |

I do that too. I can listen to a song, an album, a film scene or a music video on loop for hours and not get sick of it. I especially love doing this with headphones on. It's like the world shrinks around me and I escape into my own world. :D I've always got bits of songs (or sometimes quotes from f... |

Yes, almost all the time. I can't make a list of all the things I do as it would be too long.
I keep catching myself rocking (gently) around others. No one has ever said anything or looked at me weirdly when this happened so I take it they didn't notice. I don't know. |

29% - You aren't that neurotypical. Social skills aren't your strong suit and you tend to have more skill in other areas, however, you may still enjoy socializing. It is likely that you are autistic. |

I only went a few times because the people I was with forced me to. I hated it in there. I never realised why at the time. I was scared and overwhelmed, but didn't know anything about sensory overload back then! There was a river and woodlands close to the school. I usually went to eat lunch there, ... |

I'm the same. In fact it's one of my big problems at the moment. I have been in this situation before and managed to break out of it so I know it's possible, but not easy. While in psychotherapy, the way I did it was write down the new healthier routine - detailed daily schedules of what I would rat... |

No with me I first take it literally and it might take a bit of time for me to realise that it was a joke or something that didn't need to be taken literally. This happens to me sometimes too. Like with the 'don't worry' thing. Part of me feels like he genuinely thinks I'm overreacting to something... |

My boyfriend's dad has a tendency to say things in funny ways and even if I understand his expressions, they irritate me so I still choose to react literally to them. For example, he says 'don't worry' all the time, even if no one's worried. I've come to understand he doesn't actually imply that I a... |

Introverted (but tries to socialise)
Neither. I don't know if I have it officially, but either way it's not something I hate or feel proud of. It's just the way I am (and I'm fine with it).
Loads of obsessions.
Mostly awkward, but I shift between the two depending who I'm with. |

When I was a kid / teenager I tiptoed all the time at home (and possibly outside too, don't remember). When I was 15 a girl I knew once told me "you walk funny. Why do you walk like you are bouncing / floating? It's weird.". I had never realised this and was quite defensive about it at the time (she... |
