Older people who have AS as opposed to more 'traditional' types of autism can appear to become more 'normal' over time since they're fast learners about adaptation and many never suspect they may have the condition so 'spotting' older people on the spectrum is pretty hard to do just by observing cha...

It's amazing how so many motives were read into my original one sentence post.

I strongly suspect that most 'normal' people score around a 30 on that particular test. I've taken it several times and even 'fudged' it a little and still can't get lower than a 32 so I don't think it's a completly worthless test but the questions seem to be massively biased towards typical Auspie ...

I do some of my best thinking, days, weeks or even months after I'm asked a question. I prioritize info as it comes in and process it in some fashion at my leisure. If you just happen not to be 'smart' it doesn't mean that you're not 'intelligent'. Tests are largely for normal people, at least for a...

I realized I was different that other kids around the third grade but haven't given it much thought until a few weeks ago when I was finally diagnosed. I'm fifty-nine now.

One of my teachers nicknamed me 'smiley' because I never actually smiled at anything. It took me about twenty years to catch on to the irony.

positive aspects of AS related 'problems' means that we're not subjected to the 'normal' avenues of brainwashing propogated by the mass media so that in effect we remain as 'free-thinkers'.
To my way of thinking this is a 100% win situation for the 'afflicted'.

I got a 32 and in my humble opinion this test just doesn't mean one single thing except that somebody obviously had to much time on their hands. It was fun however and I always encourage people to keep their minds busy.

To be very honest I anticipate that my encounters here will be as strange as mankind meeting life on Mars but to me that seems to be entirely plausible so in effect I feel fairly comfortable in an uncomfortable environment.
I thank you for your consideration in responding to my post.

I don't mean to intrude but I don't think that autism or Aspergers is a 'disease' that even needs to be 'curred'. Social interactions can be 'learned' if you just have to have them in order to 'get along'. I found that learning 'middleground' approaches to apperaing to be 'normal' worked really well...

I learned that phrase by imitation but I'm still happy to meet all of you. I'm somewhere inbetween a person with Aspergers and being Autistic but I've mangaed to make my way in world largely by imitation so I can communicate fairly well but not face to face which makes this an excellent outlet. I'm ...

I trully apoligize for jumping in here but I'm amazed to find so many people who think that they may be as weird as I am. Personally I don't think of myself as having a problem. I usually think other people have problems. From what I've seen in these posts most of you (us) are just fairly 'normal' u...

This thread peaked my attention since I have gone to several 'sources' of counseling and they all ssid I had AS but nobody could point me in the direction of an MD who could take this to the next level. Eventually I did find a doctor and after spending about an hour and half I finally got impatient ...

I think that it's matter of truly defining what is 'normal'. I'm certainly not 'normal' by academic standards but then again I don't believe those standards have any validlity to begin with. To look at it another way, would you let an 'insane' person make a psyscological diagnosis about yourself tha...

I began to practice what I call 'scenarios' in the mirror when I was in the second grade. I would memorize certain 'situations' from the television or movies and then try to build up a 'list' of 'reactions' I could use in real life. Idid this on a very regular basis until I was around eighteen years...
