Because NT kids have perfect lives with no problems? Of course not. But ASD just seems to create a whole new level of difficulty for kids... ASD kids will do fine in life. They can be happy. But it would be harder than for NT kids. It is just not something I would choose for my kids. I also wouldn'...

My girlfriend has Trichotillomania, as well as high funtioning autism. It varies in severity, from going months without mention, to her having freak outs because she has pulled out so much...

I was wondering if anyone else on here suffers from it.

If I did have kids, I'd actually want them to have it. I see Asperger's as more of a gift than anything else. Look, my girlfriend is autistic. High funtioning autistic. I am NT. And I love her for everything, including her autism. It is something in her that I really treasure. But I still wouldn't ...

Well, I must say, I have found the responses to this thread fascinating. Wishing for your child not to be autistic so others won't hurt them is like wishing for your child not to be a girl so they won't suffer sexism. I might find it easier to relate to a kid like me, but would care for them however...

Thank you for such detailed replies. You have given me a lot to think about. Blueroses, thanks. I will try to find that book, and will read it. I have found useful information about autism surprisingly hard to find, so I am enthusiastic to read this book. I have found some good info, but not a lot. ...

No... My gf and I met online, living a considerable distance from each other. (I can get there in around 2 hours if I fly, but 12 if I drive). We talked online for 7 or so months, though we smsed each other constantly in this time. We completely fell in love, and it was such a natural progression fr...

Hey people I joined this forum after hanging around for a few months, just reading threads, but I decided to finally make an account. I have been going out with a high functioning autistic girl, who I am very much in love with. But we certainly have or problems... So, the things that I feel may be b...
