Here is a simple tip, when taking photos, press the take photo button half way down to get it into focus. My average time was 0.3232 seconds.
Sheep 1: 0.333 seconds.
Sheep 2: 0.450 seconds.
Sheep 3: 0.333 seconds.
Sheep 4: 0.216 seconds.
Sheep 5: 0.284 seconds.

My rating was the second lowest too, Ambling armadillo.

Unfortunately, the best thing I can do in the dark/power cuts is reach for my DS Lite and turn it on. (Quite handy for light though!)
