I often wonder the same thing. I have been depressed my entire life.

And I unfortunately know all about anhedonia as well. Deepest hell I've ever been in.

to the OP: everything of any import that i ever wanted, was blocked from my access by insurmountable barriers. in the banquet of life, all i could manage to rate was the leftover crumbs on the floor. i have found therefore, that one should systematically lower one's expectations of life until they ...

I ask myself the same question everyday. All I have ever been passionate about has never offered anything in terms of a lucrative career. For the past little while my biggest interest has been in playing death metal on guitar... absolutely nothing I can do with that. And I have zero interest in doin...

My current obsessions/special interests are: Finding people to relate to in terms of ASD in teen/adult females (no such luck in my small city) Wishing people would understand Aspergers/"High Functioning" autism better Trying to make up new stories/"excuses" to some people in my life as to why I am ...

Technical Death Metal and playing guitar have been my primary special interests for sometime now. Lately I have been kind of getting into lasers. I think I can blame the reading I have done in the past about the 'Star Wars' Missile Defense Program for this one :/

Since I have started going to college I have been alone. Initially I made some serious effort to make new friends but I too, got some sense of people being alienated by me. The more I thought about it the worse this feeling became and anymore I am so paranoid about it that I can hardly stand leaving...

I will give an example. I have a whole set of the old 1/8 scale monster models that I want to put together. But I've yet to get started on them. The reason??? I'm afraid I will goof them up. I feel like I must learn the absolute best method to paint them for them to look the best. But is that impor...

I am creating this thread because I am curious as to whether or not my obsession for Technical Death Metal is shared amongst other aspies. (particularly those of you whom play an instrument). I often wonder if my love for TDM arises largely out of certain psychological aspects of having AS and figur...

Oh, and as someone who is also a physics student with AS let me say that I don't particularly appreciate being patronized by someone pretending to be interested by my work. It's true I can easily be goaded into talking about it due to excitability, but I hold no illusions as to other people's inter...

Same reason I am so quiet IRL. I don't have anything interesting to say. More appropriately, I don't have anything a 'typical' person would find interesting to say.

Holding - or substantiating - an engaging conversation is very difficult for me.

I often feel like just giving up yet, being lonely is a terrible thing. I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life. Being rejected is incredibly painful but not as bad, perhaps, as is having noone close to talk to.

Never give up.

I know she likes me, but the thing is I don't pick up on the way she is showing it and she doesn't respond well to my way. I end up feeling really sad and rejected at the end of the day, and I have some really bad self-worth and self-esteem issues myself, as well as clinical depression. Don't despa...
