You make friends easily? Well, wave goodbye to all that stuff. You're confident with strangers? Sorry, that's gone. Ok with starting two-way conversations? Nah; past history now. Love being in a crowd of cheering people? Oh dear, you really won't like that now. Never bothered by the lighting in sup... |

Is it wrong that I read the title of this thread in my head as Michael Jackson would sing it? |

Sadly, drinking alcohol is a stim for me. It makes me feel more alive (and it tastes pretty good to me too). Because of the amount I've drunk I have quite a high tolerance for the stuff. Though I do lament though at the wasted time, and brain cells, caused by the demon drink, I have made a few frien... |

The only time I feel like I do not have Aspergers is when I am discussing something stop-motion animation related with someone who is actually intrested in stop-motion animation as well. I'm reading an Attwood book at the moment in which he quotes Bill Bryson running into an middle-aged to elderly ... |

I do see where you are coming from. Keep in mind, though, I have not listed all the symptoms here (they are in another thread called Self-diagnosis, under my old name el_salvador, if you are interested). I do plan on raising it with my GP next time I see him, but I don't see the problem in researchi... |

I really REALLY do not understand why people want a label for themselves, it's not fun, it's not cool, and not useful unless your getting help with issues associated with that label. To be fair, I think I am entitled to investigate why I feel a persistent anxiety throughout most of the day, among o... |

Hey, I just thought of something! It's embarrassing, but as I am still self-diagnosing I have to share it. I remember when I was kid, maybe 6/7 watching Alice in Wonderland and fighting back the tears when Alice was lost in the woods. I think she may have been crying too. I remember feeling her utte... |

I was lucky. I went to a school where there were all kinds of geeks and freaks, so I fit in quite well.
In fact, it was probably because of this that I was never diagnosed with AS. |

I don't know why, but I get bad anxiety when thinking about starting any school work. It feels like I'm about to go on stage or something. If I could overcome this, I'd be unbeatable. |

Never. I've been told I'd make a good poker player (except, of course, there is that whole thing about not being able to read other people).
And my wife says that when she first laid eyes on me, I reminded her of Dirty Harry! |

So... to you, if you have Asperger's, that means you don't need to change the world? As opposed to seeing it as an explanation for how you have a different viewpoint that lets you see that the world needs changing in ways NTs might not realize? The world sucks whether you have AS or not. Therefore ... |

And one more thing. That the definitions are so broad and vague, what if this Asperger's stuff is just a trap for people who have suspected they are on the "wrong planet"? It would not be too difficult, I imagine, to formulate a list which covers pretty much everyone who has a gripe with the world. ... |
