I keep running across a job posting I applied for months ago. It was with a subsidiary of the company I was just working for and initially I did get asked to do a video interview, which is a recording of you answering questions that they watch later. I decided not to do the video interview and just ... |

In my experience, it's dependent upon the particular job situation and if any changes come along to disrupt it. (And you don't have to start in help desk. Development probably gives a better chance of success.) My first job while I was finishing my degree and for a bit after I graduated was good ini... |

I have given up on having friends. I moved here from the other side of the country over 8 years ago, I've been in a relationship for 7 years and pretty much everyone I know is through my partner. I don't have friends of my own here. I have a childhood friend that lives in another state that I would ... |

At the same time heading towards minimalism and self sufficiency with growing food just in case. No job is secure. I literally lived in a travel trailer in the desert and was much happier but I let myself get sucked into finishing my degree and getting a career to make a good life for my child and ... |

I definitely do better working at home. My interactions with others tend to be awkward, having the internet between me and them helps mask it. And no uncomfortable lunches or after hours associating. Unfortunately, my results have varied depending on how much contact I needed to have with people onl... |

I totally choke on any kind of assessments given by potential employers. It doesn't matter how simple or how hard it is, I panic and my brain stops functioning. When I do inevitably choke and fail royally I tell them I just don't do well under the gun like that but I think this also tells them I'm p... |

I think this isxa common problem among those on the spectrum. I think the issue is, if we get past the interview process, that many of us take longer to acclimate than others but out perfomr others when we come up to speed, but NTs are unfamiliar with us or become impatient so we have difficulty fi... |

Only if it stays online. Once it switches over to in-person it usually goes downhill rapidly. More rapidly than just encountering people in the real world in passing. I think online that people build up too many expectations. I'm pretty sure the one person let out a verbal "Oh" the moment... |

Technically, I got laid off this time but it's because my position got eliminated and they couldn't find me another position where I was performing up to expectations in some arbitrary time frame. I've come to notice that it takes me longer to learn something new but once I learn it I become an expe... |

I use unsweetened almond milk on cereal. I wouldn't worry about the protein (lack of). Most people in civilized countries are eating more that the recommended daily allowance anyway. |

If that company is anything like ours then there are training classes that start on specific days and in most cases new hires are scheduled to start their class about 2 weeks after they are hired to give time for drug testing, background check, setting up emai... |

I'm a software developer for a very large company and I'm 100% remote. This has been the best work situation for me ever. Nobody knows me well enough to figure out I'm on the spectrum or get too comfortable, so professional politeness is still the norm even after a couple years. My team has a chat c... |

Well, it's not easy being in a minority group within a minority group but some of my aspie weirdness can be passed off onto my lesbian weirdness...like my inclination to wear men's clothes, which has more to do with comfort and tactile issues, but people probably read as relating to my orientation. ... |

I'm of course going to ask the people I report to who gave this feedback to her , but I'm curious if anyone has run into similar feedback, and how they "tone down" the vibe they give off? What things do you notice are a problem for you that other people have pointed out? Additionally, hav... |
