I was replying to another thread when I thought of this. Several times in the past, I've gotten the sense from family members, friends, or coworkers that this person had decided that some aspect of me was "off" and wanted to "fix" me. The most recent example has been a couple of male coworkers, who ...

I heart this whole thread massively. It is incredibly true, and one of the most awful aspects (for me) about being on the spectrum. I've never really been able to trust my gut, because I spent a lot of time hearing about all the social errors I made, how I didn't seem to judge people right, how I wo...

Thank you for the responses! The site's been pretty entertaining so far. I found the spambot PMs hilarious, especially the non-romantic one. Were they planning on seducing me into coming to them for my R0lex and male-enhancing needs? Would the male turn out to be a prince...in Nigeria? Now I kinda r...

There's a lot more sensitivity and awareness of the spectrum's breadth, and the professionals I've worked with recently usually could tell what thin...

Why thank you! And no, probably not surprising, but since I started attending a program for adults on the spectrum, one thing I've discovered is how very diverse we all are...and yet how easily I see shades of myself in each of them. Except the quiet one. Quiet people scare me. I'm working on that.

I wish I could copy my title line for the entire post, actually. I'm 27, female, finally diagnosed with Asperger's at 25. It took them several tries to get that right. There's been angst. It appears to be genetic in my family (my father, at least one of his sisters, probably my grandfather), which h...
