I think this is a great idea!! ! My questions ( am an NT parent of an AS child): Were you self-injurious as a child? Did you grow out of it and have the feeling fade away or did you come up with specific ways to cope so you wouldn't self-injure? If somebody intervened (such as holding your hands) w... |

Wow. Thank you so much, Babs, for the great advice. I'm going to copy and paste what you wrote and send it to my wife. Such truly great ideas. We have all boys, the problem we have is that they "press each other's buttons" to the point of one working the other up until a tantrum, wrecking... |

The fact that you still love parenting and that the 23 year old has left the nest sounds pretty good to me! I love parenting but parenting late teens into adulthood is something I am finding hard on my head. I keep trying to tell our 15 year old that I shouldn't need to parent him to do things at t... |

When they have something bothering them, if I try to help, I always feel I make it worse with the range of view points I can see. It drives me crazy to the point of inaction. How do you know which one will best help? I end up saying all of them with the common result of "it's ok mom I'll figur... |

Hi Magna, I loved raising the kids as no one was there to tell me I was wrong. In regard to arguing amongst the kids. I recall taking over an hour and a half to get home one day for a trip that should have been 15 minutes. The three of them were being especially nasty. I pulled over the van and told... |

Thanks for the new perspectives. I like the word eccentric. I'm good to give hugs to them and let them know I love them with the words "I love you". I just don't really like them hugging me back too long as I start to feel trapped. I just hope my perspectives don'tt screw up theirs. When t... |

Hello. I was just rediagnosed as aspie with inattentive adhd and executive function issue. This was added to impaired anxiety disorder. I'm married with three older kids (one already out of the nest). We all knew something was different about me. At first I was relieved that I am not going crazy. It... |

It is possible to have people grouped into one bundle and have misdiagnosis. If, after someone is diagnosed, a number of independent, double blind testing can confirm his theory, then??? Until then, one, I believe, would be jumping to conclusions one way or the other...which is not helpful. I know f... |

It was not my intention to insult anyone...which part did you find inaccurate? Perhaps I have written in incorrectly. It wouldn't be the first time I try to say something and have it come out backward from what I really wanted to say.[/quote] I realize you didn't mean to insult. But you basically c... |

Does anyone know if there is a physical part of the brain which handles 'forgiveness'? |

My husband and I just got home from a date. On the way we discussed 'forgiveness'. It is coming to my attention I have trouble being 'mad' at anyone. Also, I easily forget 'time'. If it didn't happen today, it could have easily happened 10 years ago. So far as he is concerned, he will not 'cut' some... |

I don't forgive. My experiences most NTs see forgiving as a weakness and like a licence to repeat the offending behaviour. Forgive an error, but never forgive evil. ruveyn To forgive requires courage. To release ~allows 'evil' to be lost in the death of the past. Keep the lessons learned, but not t... |

My husband forgives insanely easily. I could do anything to him (I wouldnt!) and he would forgive me in a heart beat! He has told me through general discussion about infidelity that I could cheat on him and he wouldnt leave me. And if you had sex with a farm yard animal? I am the great sun, but you... |

I don't know... I think this sort of thing is only wise or important for some people (including people like me), not for everyone. But I try to let my intellect act solely as a life support system for my instincts. Those instincts are my strong point, and by far they see truer than anything my mind... |

Think upside down, inside out and backwards. A straight line may be the shortest distance between points but it is also the most trivial and uninteresting path. ruveyn Unless it is connected by shortening it's length by some cosmic way thereby shrinking it's distance to '0'. Now that would definite... |
