I think the best approach is to take it like this. Because the punishment is so arbitary, it is meaningless. You're supposed to be upset about it, that's what the instructor wants. So your grade goes down. Okay. Grades are pretty meaningless anyways . To me their not. The idea of my grades being a ...

Forum: General Autism Discussion   Topic: Feel like fitting in society may not be possible?

Coming from someone who is pretty much stuck in the house still living with a parent and not holding a job, I'm not really sure fitting in with society would be possible. In order to fit in, I would have to act “normal” and to me, that's not really possible. Even if I pretended to, it wouldn't be me...

I feel like gender roles that society (where ever it may be) has put on people has done more harm then good. It's one thing to put genders in the roles that they are generally “most useful” in, but it's another thing to almost force someone to fit a gender role. Everything from how we act, dress, an...

Suppose you had the option of starting your own country or nation somehow. Away from the other countries and not limited to their laws and customs. A new country, with it's own laws and customs, flag, and more. For many people, which even includes some NTs, most, if not all of the current countries ...

The one thing I never did understand about porn sites is one particular guideline. Something about not going against community standards. Laws and social norms are not the same thing. Porn sites are usually viewed in the privacy of your home anyway. So, why does it matter how others feel about it? W...

I wonder if this is common among many other Aspies. There have been too many cases in my life that I suffered from laziness and lack of willpower. Even now I'm having trouble typing this very post. It seems like this problem didn't improve much at all over the years. The past couple of days, it's go...

I'll say one of the most important things here right off the bat. Moral values are subjective. Different people have different standards and their own ideas of what is right and wrong. This seems to be yet another thing society (referring to America in this case) fails to understand. Often if you do...

To me, “punish everyone over one person's actions” is so flawed. This is one of the few things I get very angry over. Usually it's the people that are well known for causing trouble that the system is used on. I'll break this down into bold statements, with those being the things said by the one(s) ...

Living out in the country doesn't really help that much to get out since there isn't anywhere to go to on foot. I have yet to learn how to drive. The only times I used to get out before were school, but ever since homeschooling near the begining of this year, I pretty much been in the house most of ...

Not just AS-related, but something that seems to affect nearly everyone in society. When I mention society, I'm talking about America, as I can't speak for the rest of the world. Society has these social rules and norms that they seem to expect everyone to follow. It's one thing to expect people to ...

I pretty much be at this site on and off, mostly off. Over the time I started this topic and now, I finally figured out a way to get through school. I'm 18 and still live with my mother, but she still wouldn't let me drop out of school, which if I'm correct, you have that legal option at 17. All I p...

This topic isn't quite like my other one where I mainly talked about how I felt the system was flawed. Now I want to focus more on dealing with this system, mainly getting a diploma or GED, and if I don't, focus on living without those. I'm at the breaking point of staying in school or dropping out....

At times, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being misunderstood by those that are generally misunderstood as well. Yes, the first post was written out of angry and possibly not expressed the best way, but isn't that something Aspies suffer a lot more from then NTs on average? Yes, I do have this whole ...

I may have hardly posted when I first joined and shortly after “disappeared”, as thought of being a one timer, but after dealing with a lot of issues in the past month, this may be one of the very few places left for me to feel welcome and express my anti-society views. I been mainly seeking out inf...

I understand there isn't really anything, except maybe some rules in some places (which doesn't include high school), that says people have to accept someone. I been thinking about this for awhile and I guess the freedom of the country extends to the freedom of acting mean toward those who are not l...

I used to do this when I was very young. The teacher(s) would get angry about it, yet I usually tried hard not to laugh. I even remember laughing when on TV they were talking about some guy that got killed and my father got very angry about this. Around 4th or 5th grade, this pretty much stopped and...
