It hurts me every time I see someone making those popular psychology theories with no basis whatsoever. They should ban all of this, or at least the public should be aware of how wrong are they. But the actual treatment might work for some people, so I might not be right. Still, it will probably onl...

It might have something to do with high latent inhibition and possibly bad concentration.

I have learned to recognise how something sounds/looks like, upon reading/seeing it. This has helped me, to an extend, to express myself closer to the way I wanted to. However, I am still having this issue: When I write a text, including this very text I'm writing at the moment, I do not know how it...

I'm not sure if ASDs are wired differently. Just a few months of intense pattern recognition, driven by curiosity and desire to improve, have led me to be able to understand NTs. Not sure if my brain's biology changed.

Social skills are now intuitive for me, I am even doing better than most NTs in some aspects. Unfortunately, my approach wasn't exactly based on hard effort, and I don't believe most people can achieve what I did. Read novels and try to explain why are things written in the way they are. If someone ...

First, I am not even sure what exactly NLD is - I only noticed that I have deficits/problems that are additional to my ADHD, (other ADHD people don't have them), I didn't see any possible source for them, they are quite severe and disabling, and quite fit into the descriptions of NLD I found online....

What are some good tips for treatment of NLD? I am also inclined to take medication, as long as the negative side-effects aren't significant (addiction is ok, I'm not going to take everything more then 1-3 times weekly anyway, so I won't even get the opportunity to get addicted) - like the one sugge...

I would hate to be diagnosed in the UK, aspies seem to have it very bad there, with discriminatory restrictions on their lives. This is exactly why I started this thread, and why I never tried to get a diagnosis. Could somebody explain what myths you've been told about the UK? I'm not talking speci...

Would they actually do this if I ask them to? After all, they are technically lying. Also, a vital part of the diagnostic criteria of AS - ineffective social functioning - is something you can change, therefore "cure" should be possible? It is not lying. They would assess you again and if they conc...

I would hate to be diagnosed in the UK, aspies seem to have it very bad there, with discriminatory restrictions on their lives. This is exactly why I started this thread, and why I never tried to get a diagnosis. Here they could always conclude that the first diagnosis was a miss-diagnosis, but the...

Simple question: Let's say I have an AS diagnosis. If I learn excellent solid social skills (better than most NTs), can I go to my doctor and get un-diagnosed? Likewise for ADHD (let's say I learn great time-management, impulse control, and other skills, in addition to reducing the ADHD at its core,...

I can imitate body language very well, but like some things in my social repetoire, it's a VERY concious process. I often mentally remind myself to uncross my legs and have an open posture towards the other person I'm talking to. Before I knew this, I'd be very bunched up with my arms and legs cros...

I think I know what you mean. Example, my friend lost her job and was obviously upset, she was crying when she was telling me about it. I certainly felt really sad for her and really wanted to do something to comfort her. That was the immediate reaction in my head. A hug would have been a nice gest...
