What kind of a person brings a knife to a gunfight?

The loser.

Great post, Cybrludite. I agree.

I'm not a professional either, but my take on her is, much more OCD than aspie. A suggestion - can you expose her to some literature describing Aspergers? Most of us recognize ourselves in that right off the bat. There are also a host of on-line tests that could be helpful. Best of luck to you both.

Cool question, interesting answers. Mine: What is the book that has affected you the most and your way of thinking? Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. What is the book that affected your feelings the most? Probably Lust for Life, the biography of Vincent Van Gogh, by Irving Stone. Have you ever started to...

Well, I have often thought I needed a helping hand, but thrapy (for depression) did not work for me. I was incapable of connecting and/or trusting a therapist. Knowing s/he was sitting there taking notes completely blocked me from getting to anything important. I don't know if this has more to do wi...

I read through the link. My initial response: "You're not Adult Indigo Children, you're Old Hippies!" (I'm old enough to remember, and about 95% of the descriptions apply.) What I don't understand is why some of the people here are enraged about the initial post - hey, it's just an idea and essentia...

Denmark, kinkajou, ugli fruit! How it works: no matter what number you choose to begin with, after going through the multiplying and subtracting gyrations your answer will always be 4, corresponding to D. The rest is just common association, most people will think: D - Denmark; K - kangaroo; O - ora...

blue_bean, I am glad you have reconsidered. Take it from one who's been there, being in a psych hospital will NOT get you "the care you need". It is more like being in jail with medications that you may not want. These places are holding cells to keep you from being a nuisance to others and/or makin...

Funaho, I am sorry you are having such a rough time right now. Here's an e-hug: *HUG* I know exactly what you're going through, with the financial woes; I have the same problem (lawsuits threatening). It is incredibly stressful, 24/7, and I feel trapped and utterly unable to do anything about it, si...

Thanks Aeriel :D :D :D Wow, that's big, I mean....I'm really not alone, not only are there other aspergers but there are other people who are asexual. I've always said that I was a-sexual, as a joke, a punt to being bi-sexual, a,b,c hehe. but it's actually something you can be. Thanks a lot, I'm go...

I'm not into sex at all, very confused about my sexuality. Tried being a lesbian, they said I looked like one, but did not fit in there either. I find both men and women interesting, just not sexualy. I don't think in terms of men and women but people. I'm so glad to find out there are more like me...

jonathan79, I agree that 'most-likely' is certainly a legitimate criterion for selecting a belief system or reilgion. However (and I'm sure emp will correct me if I'm wrong) emp's description of himself as a 'most-likely-ist' seemed to me to indicate that regardless of his current views, he is will...

there have also been studies that seem to suggest a genetic factor in religious belief. ie, that the tendency toward religious belief is a heritable characteristic. Now, that is really interesting. Can you be more specific about these studies? I'd like to check them out. It might explain why, despi...

"Most-likely-ist" is not a belief, it is a criteria for selecting a belief. You and I both use the criteria of what is "most likely" to adopt a belief in atheism. jonathan79, I agree that 'most-likely' is certainly a legitimate criterion for selecting a belief system or reilgion. However (and I'm s...

There seems to be a feeling of entitlement and anger in the athiesm I've encountered - and in this line of thought - that God owes us something, like perfect health. I don't subscribe to it, but would be interested in knowing why some in this forum do. I see your point; but both the old and new tes...
