My son is 14 and he has high functioning asperger's. He has very poor social skills. We have had him in social skills training but that did nothing to help. He never wants to listen to us on what he needs to stop doing that upsets people he tries to make friends with. He has recently joined a social...

Thank you DW, I have checked with the one school and even if we were able to get 1/2 off the tuition cost it is still too much. Problem we are running into is my husband is the only one working at this time and I am a college student myself. We are also expecting a baby again any day now. I will hav...

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew if and how parents could find grants or funding for schooling for kids like ours? DS becomes so stressed and depressed when it is time for school to start and I know of a private school that is starting up that deals with children like ds, but at this t...

Bolle47, thank you. You were helpful and I understand that ds is very frustrated, but I have always been the type that you just do not blame people for your choices (even when I was younger) and it can drive me nuts when he does this. I love him dearly though no matter what. I will have to look up a...

Hello everyone, I am wondering if anyone else has had to deal with their aspie blaming everyone for things that theynever did? Example: DS has a very bad habit of misplacing his things and it never fails he will say well someone took it, but then what ever he lost will still be where he had it last....

My son gives me hugs... depending on the day he might just lean into me not using his arms but that is not too often. With other family members he is close with he will offer his head... he will lean in and put his head on their shoulder but he will keep his body far back from them. If he doesn't wa...

I think you are right Age1600~ I remember now him asking me what I was talking about once when I asked him to stop making noises. lol It does not bother me most of the time when he is making the noises since usually he is somewhat quiet about it, but it can drive other people crazy. I was wondering about that, if that was what he was doing.
I will have to start keeping that in mind and point it out to my husband as well.

Do you think ds could express that to me if we asked him why he makes the noises?
Thank you :)

My ds (has AS) is 10 yrs old and I have been noticing lately him making noises alot more than usual. It almost seems like if he is not talking he is making noises and no matter how much you ask him to stop he won't or he will for a couple of minutes and then start up again. I noticed that he use to ...

We tried last year having the teacher talk to the kids (her grandson has autism) and I printed out a great paper I found on the internet that explained asperger's to help the other kids understand asperger's and how it affect those who have it. It did no good~ for some kids they have taken that and ...
