Because no one thinks they are interesting or fun. No one, NT, Aspie or otherwise.

Find someone who can recommend a broker, that's my best advice. Get a broker you trust.

So far, the best advice I can offer is be observant. Don't talk as much as you want to, listen and pay attention. Grab your spouse aside and ask questions about the in-laws behavior. Ask NT's you are close to at work about other coworkers. Treat it like an anthropological study and make a game of it...

I sought diagnosis at 36 and was told "it would be of no benefit". So far that has been quite wrong. A number of the medical profesionals I've seen have been reluctant to use the "A" word, but several have thought it was right on target. Yes, I've been passed few a through therapists. The primary th...

Note: I by no means recommend this for anyone else, but this strategy worked for me. In all honesty, smoking is the only reason I had any friends at university. Smokers were herded into certain areas outside on campus and awkward small talk was the norm. You see the same people in the same spot ofte...

From Texas.....ooooooh no. I'm currently exiled to this...lovely furnace by our government.

I'm in San Antonio, but I grew up in Wisconsin. Where it snows, or used to. That's a much better environment for me.

OK, this is weird. So other aspies like music that I like? Most people hate the music I listen to. Try this one on and tell me what you think.

Easy, I walked into the mental health clinic and told them I thought I had Aspergers Syndrom. I got lucky, they have a doc here that is really interested in AS and related conditions. At first I went to my regular doc and asked to get a referral to a neuro-psychologist. The regular doc asked his sta...

I'm in the Air Force and recently diagnosed with AS. Best thing I ever did. The diagnosis is not incompatible with military service and unless you have a negative track record you shouldn't have to worry about it impacting your career at all. With that said, leadership isn't for everyone. However th...

Perhaps you wouldn't, but I would.

I've only known what's going on with me for about 6 months. I don't think I've ever met someone else on the spectrum. I don't know if its good or bad.

I've been out of school for quite some time. I wish I would have known about my condition when I was there, who knows what kid of difference it could have made.

What would you consider dead give aways at a social gathering? I don't go to many, but a few. I also end up at gatherings for other folks who do a similar job to mine, audio engineering.

I was reading the thread on detecting others on the spectrum, but is there a good place to look? Where can I stalk others of my kind in their natural habitat so to speak? I know we all have different obsessions so we tend to shop for obsession related accessories. Is there any universal or at least ...

When I was really young I wanted to be a Firefighter/Paramedic. I do still have thoughts of that being an interesting retirement career. I started university to become a nurse. I soon discovered that I stink at math and couldn't get through college algebra with a good enough grade to take the 3 addi...
