This is my suggestion as well. If someone is totally emotionally committed to a certain viewpoint that underpins their entire existential orientation to the universe then no amount of rational debate will shift them.

I feel kind of bad for obscure people who suddenly find themselves by accident in the middle of a 'news' story and getting their '15 minutes of fame' dumped on them unexpectedly, especially when it's something stupid they did that paints them in the worst possible light. I wasn't diagnosed until 4 years ago, and I'm 43 now.....for 10 years previous to that my life was just so confusing and lonely. It's much better now.
