Basically, they always act like they're *so* close to getting me something....they even tell me what the job is, then....NOTHING. I don't even get an interview. I think they get off on psyching me out... Wow that must be frustrating. i'm having a very similar experience. They never call. I always h...

Well, there is that saying, "If you met one autistic person (or Aspie, pretty much the same thing), you met ONE autistic person". Very true. NTs tend to misinterpret our communication and body language, some Aspies adapt socially better than others. The pessimistic traits probably come from being r...

Maybe you've learned to hide your symptoms so well that the few that remain look like bad NT traits or just bad quirks to the majority populous rather than an actual "issue"? You nailed it- that is exactly what is happening. Can't say I hide symptoms well but do smile and give eye-contact, and try ...

I've applied for SSDI (my 90 days is almost up, so a decision is coming soon) and they haven't asked once about my educational level....just my previous work experience. Wait a minute...I just realized something.....they care about experience, but not education....why....they're just like regular e...

SSI or any kind of SS disability is very hard to get. You need extensive Dr's documentation of your inability to work. At your age (20), you would likely need to prove that you cannot work any job at all. SS uses a grid to determine level of disability (among many other factors); your age, education...

Policeman/woman Detective Being a detective requires a non-literal, less linear manner of thinking that many of us with Aspergers (and the related executive function deficits) struggle with. Being a policeman or woman requires extreme adaptability to change and the ability to negotiate unfamiliar (a...

I have a hard time getting a job interview, let alone "passing" one sufficiently well enough to get hired. The problem may be that some of us learn a superficial social repertoire to get by, but it isn't enough. For example, I've learned some rote social skills - but in panic misapply them in the wr...

I don't look like the stereotypical Aspie (in some NTs point of view). Have learned to give eye-contact and smile. However, I make subtle social mistakes which actually come off as having negative personality traits rather than Aspergers. For example, I consider myself a realist (pessimist) due to n...
