You can get arrested for failing the physical and mental tests even if you are under the legal limit. The legal limit was set based on the fact that most people's level impairment increases slowly between .00 and .07, between .08 and .10 it picks up noticeably, and the level of impairment typically...

I just watched a segment on Fox News where they were saying that impaired driving under the influence of medical marijuana is increasingly a problem (although as far as I can tell, there isn't a study backing this up, its just something they decided to assert and discuss today). They seem to imply t...

I still avoid a lot of situations too because if you try and seem normal then you seem even more strange when you get stuck preteding! I really relate to this! In college, now that I think about it, one of the things I did that helped me get friends was play up my quirks. I figured out what quirks ...

Somehow I think not. THere's no reason to advocate specialness of such a kind. If you want to know what I feel about what we are then take a look at one of my threads. It would be helpful if you posted a link to a relevant thread. My post was tongue in cheek, I'm not actually advocating anything (a...

This is just a flight of fancy, but I've had an obsession with Vulcans since as early as I can remember. I watched TOS growing up and I suppose I related to Spock's logical thought process and confusion about human behavior. It's not a new idea that Spock is a model of Asperger's Syndrome. There is ...

QFT. We really need a new word to describe what this is really referring to. Essentially, how I see it is kind of like this: There are people who like to eat large, wholesome meals. Then there are people who prefer small snacks of fruit, crackers, whatever. And then there are people who like to eat...

So, it's been a couple days and I simply cannot shake this. I have talked to my mom who keeps trying to convince me that I don't have Aspergers. She told me that although I loved the Phillies for so long growing up, I was always able to figure out the social cues of when people weren't interested i...

I sent him this string of texts this morning - hoping to be super clear with him about what I wanted. Here is the entire string of texts I sent this morning: Text 1: “Happy birthday!! ! I called you at 12:37 to tell you.” Text 2: “I am guessing that you forgot to call me after your show and you als...

I think it would be dangerous. Anything that forces you to trust and love other people would make you much more vulnerable to exploitation, and we're already naive and vulnerable enough as it is. While you might have an easier time making eye contact or initiating conversations, that's too much of ...

Interesting thread, its cool to read all these answers! I do not seem to have any great chameleon abilities, but here is the main "skill" I use to get through one-on-one interactions with people I find boring: I focus on asking questions about the person I am talking to, keeping them talking about t...

Interestingly a therapist suggested I had schizoid personality disorder.

I went home and looked it up. I never went back to that therapist again.

But I can see how the symptoms might come across that way.

My opinion for now is that the main difference between NT and AS individuals is how they learn everything from mathematics to humor. I think NTs tend to learn from each other, and ASs tend to learn by themselves (e.g. from books). Because of this, learning the 'unwritten rules' of social interactio...

Now the question is it ethical for me to prevent them doing covert research? I have no idea. I can't even think of what you would do. If somebody is doing covert research, how would you know what they were researching? I am guessing you want to somehow invalidate this hypothetical data with posts t...
