We had my (still undiagnosed) daughter skip 1st grade. She is undoubtably brilliant, but by middle school began to rebel and refuse to meet scholastic demands. Her high school was very tough, she scraped by mostly because her teachers were generous with her. She often did not do the required work, o... |

I am not currently pressuring her at all, since she is enjoying her last wisp of The First Summer After High School. She's supposed to go enroll at th... |

Tracker, I think you are the cat's meow. I loved your first book and am truly looking forward to finding usable insight in the second. I have NO problem accepting "differentness" (in fact everyone I have told about this website, thinks it is about them. Even THE MOST NT person out there has often fe... |

ciao a tutti-
sono madrelingua inglese, ma abito in Italia da MOLTO tempo.
Cerco anch'io risorse in Italia.
Sarei lieta di aiutare chi ha bisogno di una mano per capire/cercare risorse o in inglese o in italiano.

Thanks, momsparky- but you posted the same thread twice. I did not find where you actually told your son and what the outcome was. I have an adult friend whose Aspie traits are far more evident than those of my 19yr old daughter. He has been being treated only for anxiety since he was a kid with the... |

Thanks, Tracker. Great book! Amazingly concise and effective communication - incredible to imagine it was composed by a person with difficulty stringing words together! My daughter has neither been diagnosed nor has it even been suggested directly to me by teachers etc. that she needs "help". One th... |

this is the forum discussion that finally convinced me to sign on. My 19 year old's behavior and life is reflected in so many of these posts, but when I read about the coughing tic, I KNEW. As I tried to indicate with my sign-in nickname, I do not view "differently" wired brains as a handicap, but a... |
