A few lines from a poem that I wrote when I didnt know that I had Aspergers (a few months ago) and was going through a really hard time understanding who I am. "For every time I try to resist, escape from the shackles A momentary hope does surface, lighting a bleak flame Only to burn out before I ev... |

My meltdowns are mostly silent. I usually go to some place where I can be alone and then I let it out (silently). I had a meltdown today and surprisingly, this time I couldnt hold it back until I was in a private place and it just came out really loud. I was sobbing uncontrollably in front of everyo... |

For example, a pen for writing on the calendar and another pen for writing in notebooks. I know logically that pens which can write can be used for anything, but for certain things I feel more secure having a specific pen. Its the same for me. I have a pen for writing poetry, one for doodling and o... |

you're right. Email is a better option. I will try to persuade my friends to opt for it as the means to our "staying connected". |

Today while I was having a meeting with my Advisor I noticed myself wrenching my hands, fiddling with my clothes, wriggling my feet and having a really hard time trying to make eye contact (but being unable to do so). I probably do this when I'm around people and didnt really notice it until today. ... |

I have a tendency to detach completely from people (to whom I am somewhat close to) when they move away. Even though we might still be friends on facebook, it feels like I barely ever knew that person. I find it hard to talk to them on the phone or even send text messages. Eventually I cut off compl... |

when I am "over-analyzing" I'm not doing it intentionally, I'm just thinking. Happens to me all the time. Its probably the reason why I have a serious expression on my face all the time and why people always ask me if "everything is alright with me" or "why do I look so perplexed and worried". When... |

Is the constant fatigue that I experience related to my ASD? I always get tired easily. In weekdays when I have to spend around 8 hours outside home taking classes, doing assignments and working as a TA, I feel as if all my body's strength is drained accompanied by throbbing head and sore back. I am... |

I always see the word in my head when I have to spell it and I have always been good at them. And most of the time looking at a new word and reading it out once is enough for me to learn it and its spellings. But when I think about how it should be spelled, I mostly always mess it up. Also when I hav... |

I pause between words when I speak. Most of the time it is because I cant find the right words to communicate what is in my head. Sometimes its because I am not ready to talk and have been forced to (like a surprise class presentation) and sometimes its because I dont know what I have to say. Whenev... |

I didnt think my post would grab any serious attention. I was probably half asleep when I posted it. But I still stand by it making it clear that it was about most NT girls, not all. I know that there do exist NTs who are totally original in their speech and thought, it is another thing that they mo... |

I am not dyslexic and I dont hear my words when I read too. I see pictures in the same way you do. And I too think it is because we think and see in the form of pictures. |
