He might be keenly aware of everything and avoid the subject because he's uncomfortable talking about his feelings at all or with strangers. There might be a lot more going on inside than he lets on. I'm always fine as well, when someone asks. How I really feel is rarely put into words. |

I don't really have a solution for you. I can only commiserate with you. Do you have a partner, trusted friend or adult family member? Maybe you could tell them about it and ask them to come along with you / help push you, so to speak. It's never going to be a pleasant thing to do. |

My social anxiety seems to stem from being insecure, both in general and about specific things, coupled with never knowing what people think or being able to predict how they will react to me. The fear grows bigger when I'm tired, under pressure or feeling insecure about some specific thing (a hairc... |

Just one note about facebook & privacy: You can lock down your profile and make full use of the limited privacy features. This won't help you though. It takes just one facebook-friend to undo everything. For example: A 'friend' can upload a picture of you and tag you in it. Even if you don't acc... |

Wired UK just did a small piece on this. Steady but small doses of caffeine (about 25mg/hour for a person of average healthy weight) combined with glucose. 1 cup of coffee or espresso with sugar an hour or 90 minutes should do the trick. |

Mornings, usually. On a hot day I take one in the evening as well. I _never_ go outside my appartement without having taken a shower. Not even just to get my mail downstairs. I love it though. It's the place I think most clearly. I have my best ideas under the shower. I can never take quick one, bec... |

This might be hard to do, but don't underestimate the power of the bluff. A friend of mine has a new career every few years. She has 0 experience, nor a degree, but just by talking and being enthousiastic she got hired to teach a workshop / course at several colleges. Before this she was a bartender... |

Hi I'm... going to do the introduction part some other time. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? It's nighttime; I hear my fridge humming, the occasional car going by on a street nearby, and a mosquito. What's under your bed? The dignity of impressionable young women. What kind of... |

The suspect has confessed to the crimes. He has also published a manifesto of about 1500 pages (search for 2083 and you will find it). This manifesto details not only his motives but has instructions for copycats and a diary of his preparations for the attack. He mentions he used playing WoW as a co... |

Hi everyone, I would like to ask you for your view on a personal experience. When I was a journalism student in 2001 I remember seeing the second plane hit the World Trade Center in New York City on tv. I was fascinated by the logistics of it; How a small group of determined men managed to pull off ... |

Impressive displays of bigotry in this thread. Interesting that the man suspected of doing this turns out to be in the same ideological neighborhood as those who want to blame Muslims for everything. He was openly anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim. Yes, there is such a thing as right wing extremism. Yes, ... |
