My son swings his arms when his hands are not in use. I tend to think of it as he "knows" exactly what to do with his arms. It makes him happy to swing his arms, so he swings his arms. When he swings his arms, he is usually talking to himself and happy. If he is not swinging his arms and he's not do... |

Even NTs have "buttons". Things that really bug them and they even may be irrational somewhat. It could be that this friend is really bugged by you touching your face? Could it be that this friend really likes you, but is having a hard time with people staring at you? Could you have a nice talk with... |

Seems so lame.. But, I'm remembering a Toopy and Binoo show. Where Binoo was having nightmares and Toopy told him to blow raspberries at the monsters when they appear and they *poof* go away. How about creating a social story that addresses some of these individual fears and practice blowing raspber... |

We were also told to wait till 3 years old. The problem with that is that it can often take over a year for all the assessments and diagnosis to happen. Then you've wasted valuable therapy time. I'm not sure what age therapy is recommended. We started ABA therapy at age 4. But, you can always go to ... |

This is a great thread. Makes me remember that my daughter should not always have to just put up with all of her brother's issues. I need to do a better job about getting her space when she needs quiet time from him. She has started being a bit introverted and her answers are sometimes super robotic... |

I watch TV or surf the internet. Love the gossip websites. Enjoy reading. And really enjoy colouring in my kids' books.
Also like to play World of Warcraft and just do mindless stuff. |

I'm having troubles now figuring out what to do. My 6r old ASD boy does not clean up as much as his sister has to. His sister does way more and is held to a much higher standard in behaviour as well. I am not doing a good job of balancing. Not even sure if there needs to be balance. It's just really... |

My life is like a movie. It's like I'm watching it and am stuck in my seat and can't get up. Sometimes the movie is scary. What I try and do is to make sure I'm always the screenwriter. I've got to make sure I always make sure I know my role as screenwriter and producer. I'm in charge of the movie. ... |

I get them too, but they are manageable now. I've learned what my body needs to do to overcome them. |

My 6 year old has them. We will be doing reading or something taxing and he will abruptly start playing with his car and be unresponsive to anything I do to bring him back. I tend to blame myself for perhaps continuing too long and missing his queues for needing a break. I can often prevent them if ... |

You can not go see a Doctor? If you can get someone to assess and diagnose you, so many doors could open for you. In the ways of funding I mean. |

Welcome Kelly! I am also new here. Something I've done is actively lobby other parents and people in the neighbourhood. Socializing so much is not something I really enjoy doing. However, it has helped tremendously. I have confided in a friend or two my challenges and they are often very willing to ... |
