without hyperactivity? I've been diagnosed with severe ADHD, but, I have all of the inattentive symptoms and all impulsive symptoms in the DSM, but only two of the hyperactive symptoms (procrastination and easily bored). The only types I see mentioned online are hyperactive-impulsive, inattentive, a... |

I was exaggerating for effect, but thank you. |

Thing is, there's a wide variety of antipsychotics out there that could have made her at least semi-normal. She refused and decided to make the first 12 years of my life and the last 15 years of being married to my dad miserable as all f**k. Especially when you're an impressionable 6 year old who a... |

"The next step in human evolution" makes people with AS seem grandiose with a retardedly huge superiority complex. I'd rather be looked at as weird than a crazy ass schizo who thinks he's god. That's being too negative. um, no it isn't. I've agree with diamorphine completely. I've picked up the "yo... |

To be honest, if I were mentally disabled Confuzzling. What's your definition of mental disability/mentally disabled which is often used synonymously to "mental disorder"? Don't you have a type of ADHD or something? What do you think ADHD as according to the DSM-IV/ICD-10 is exactly? Yes, I have se... |

I think of autism as more of a behavioural problem, almost like ADD which you can't find out if your baby has that either. Like you said, if the baby just happens to be born lower functioning then maybe the funds should be spent on better therapy or maybe a cure if the child is really low functioni... |

That's why they called Down Syndrome Mongolism before the Mongolians said it was insulting. |

I don't understand what's wrong with being content with who you are, instead of trying to be someone else. I never said there was anything wrong with having AS. If you are content with your AS and embrace it, GOODY FOR YOU. You must realize that there are other people with this disease that don't l... |

I agree, being on the spectrum is not something to be though of as some kind of exclusive club. A poll on this site, under the title "Do you wish you were never born?" , 61% responded "yes, often". In terms of those who are happy with their condition and don't want to be NT, I do admire that and I ... |

Anyone want a membership card? It's a life pass too. I'm giving it away for free. That's just how selfless and charitable I am, I guess (O, wait...). THANK YOU! A race is a group of people that come from a geographic location, AS happens everywhere. A club is something you voluntarily join and can ... |

I totally agree with you. I also think that the whole "Autism/AS is the next step in human evolution!" thing is a bunch of garbage. They think their helping AS people, but really all they're doing is turning it in to a big joke and when people stop thinking it exists you won't be viewed as an "aspi... |

I know you're trying to not let your AS diagnosis limit yourself by saying it's not a disease, but it's incredibly counter-productive to start treating it like an exclusive club or race. It's as much of a race/club as schizophrenia, ADHD, and cancer. It's not a "Way of life", you CHOOSE your way of ... |
